Over the weekend I built the first version of my personal light, and wrote a couple of blog posts

This one is about the personal light: http://tashwong.tumblr.com/post/33594579571/artifact-2-a-personal-light-because-the-candle
and this one is about what i took from making artifact 1: http://tashwong.tumblr.com/post/33585792224/on-making-a-response-to-artifact-1

I'll be posting some process photos + drawings of making the light over the next couple of days.

Spent the last week working through a variety of things, unfortunately very few of them were thesis related.

Need advice: Has anyone found a good way to actively plan their time? I'm finding it really difficult to move from reacting to deadlines to responding to the things I actually want to learn + do this year. This is leaving me feeling really stressed out and as if I'm drowning in work.

For the next 7 weeks I'll be focusing on building iterations of the personal light.
This will encompass:
Learning about leds, switches, sensors, and circuits
Considering different scenarios where the light could be used (eg kids)
Form study - exploring new and researching existing variations in lamp forms
Historical + literary research - understand the importance/impact of light pre-electricity

Help: I'd really like to find the english translation of Gaston Bachelard's essay "The Flame of a Candle". Its out of print so costs about $150-$300, I've found the french edition...but je ne peux pas parler français.

hey Tash! lemme know if you figure out that time management bit, i feel the same (reacting instead of pro...acting?)

Anyways, saw this and thought of you:

"Good Night Lamp is a family of connected lamps that lets you communicate coming back home to your loved ones."
