Subject: RE: Ganeshothsava invitation draft for 2015 + 21 Special

Dear Friends of MFA,

Did not receive further edits or responses on the invitation draft.

I had made a change request “How about we keep Maha Mangalaarthi at 6PM instead of 9PM, people may come early!”

This way cultural programs can start after Aarthi with more people and dinner also is served after Aarthi?

Based on what I raised at the last meeting, would like to give more details here so everyone who did not attend can have their say too.

MFA has stepped into a great milestone year of their existence, the 21st year celebrations.

This is a great achievement by itself which would not have been possible without Lord Ganesha’s Grace, tireless efforts of MFA committee and ofcourse the unconditional love and support of Melbourne devotees who attended the Ganeshothsva in large numbers each and every year.

Normally all our Birthdays are kept low key except for some special milestones like 21 or 25 or 50 or 100 years, it is celebrated on a grand scale having to bear some expenses.

Similarly, “Ganeshothsva 21” is special. Something other than normal needs to be planned. This specialty I see should be mainly in 3 areas:

1.       Pooja programs - for Lord Ganesha as a gratitude of our love for Him. The very reason why we have our Hindu festivals every year, mother’s day, etc. Vidyashankar proposed to have 108 couples perform the Yagna/Pooja Saturday morning. Great idea and this was accepted at last meeting.

2.       Ganapathy Maha Prasad (dinner) -  on Saturday night and Sunday Lunch – something special – other than normal. Got to brainstorm this at next meeting.

3.       Cultural Programs for Saturday evening – All these 20 years MFA has given opportunity to local artists, family and friends and this has been appreciated and enjoyed by all. At the same time Melbourne devotees also have longed for a special evening (other than normal) and this 21st year is perfect for it. Some selected usual programs like Kids fancy dress and some dances can be accommodated for the evening but most of it just for this year, moved to Saturday morning. For the evening program, the proposal is to invite an artist from India, preferably prominent singers, the likes of P.Susheela, KS Chitra, (who - can be decided on their availability, feasibility, etc). Local artists, musicians also can participate with the main singer as has always been.

The expenses for inviting such an artist is definitely a big question. There are options on how to tackle this concern which can be discussed and mitigated. Approx cost may be in the order of $3000. As a preliminary / immature thought at this stage either Sydney Ganeshothsva committee also can share cost OR preferably better to share with Melb Kannada Sanga wherein they can have a Filmy-songs evening program before Ganeshthosva. This needs to be thought through further and discuss best options. But I kindly urge please do not disclose the ideas to anyone as it is very preliminary (especially to Sydney)

Other areas of specialty programs can also be thought of, like having a Volga band, special decorations, special kids competitions, etc

Please envision these points and feel free to honestly comment. To be discussed in detail at next meeting.

Cheers,

Praveen

I had been through the invitation draft. and agree with Praveen
Some minor edits made, see attached, like brackets around Saturday, Sunday, spaces between words, some misspelt words etc

Made  minor format change like

GAELIC PARK SPORTS COMPLEX, KEYSBOROUGH, VICTORIA - 3173 (MEL 94 G 7).

SHREE VARASIDDHIVINAYAKA MAHOTHSAVA 2015

to be in one line rather than split lines

Please  look at the attached invitation revised/corrected - in my opinion.

if any one find some thing else please feel free to notify.

Jai Ganesha RK,

Some minor edits made, see attached.

Like brackets around Saturday, Sunday, etc

Change Sejaarathi. Maha Mangalaarthi

How about we keep Maha Mangalaarthi at 6PM instead of 9PM, people may come early!

This way cultural programs can start after Aarthi with more people and dinner also is served after Aarthi?

Sorry for not bringing this up at the meeting but we did not have the draft invitation to discuss

>>>please bring the following Pooja Items. Idols of Lord Shree Ganesha

I thought MFA was supplying and participants have to come for Visarjane?

If this is only requesting them to bring a small take-back-home metal idol, then need to be clarified I think.

Cheers,

Praveen

Dear Friends,

There has been a hiccup in the Visa process for the Artist from India. We have decided not to proceed with other options presented to continue with the Visa process.

There will be no visa costs, etc  to MFA in this regard.

Mr Nagraj has been notified and is making alternative plans to fill the void.

PS: Attached modified Email Invitation (removed reference to artist)

When it is HIS wish, HE has better plans.

Thanks everyone.
