MEXICO PLAYS AT TEN!
Offering one of the most mesmerizing live performances in music today,
THe BAcksliders have managed to blast on to the scene combining the
best elements of rock & roll and country/soul. Formed in late 2005,
THe BAcksliders wasted no time in self-releasing a full-length album,
which has quickly sold regionally, and a 7" released December 2006.
Led by Kim Pendleton (formerly of Polygram recording artist Vibrolux)
and husband Chris Bonner (Sons of Sound). THe BAcksliders songwriting
reflects both their environment and relationship borrowing from such
elements as Memphis soul, classic country, southern rock and punk.
Backed by local rhythm greats Nolan Thies(Lauren Fine) on bass and
Taylor Young(Young Heart Attack, Polyphonic Spree) on drums. The band
has played over a 120 gigs in the last year and recently filmed a live
DVD-"Year One" to be released in early 2007. This winter/spring
catch THe BAcksliders at a venue near you promoting their new single
"Cry/I Got Mine". A full-length studio album to follow in 2007...

Rubber Gloves is a cement factory turned live music venue, bar, and
rehearsal studios. We opened our doors in April 1997 simply renting
rehearsal rooms for local bands in Denton. Following the closing of The
Argo, Rubber Gloves stepped up and filled the need of a live music
venue in the college town home to the University of North Texas. The
first show was a benefit concert featuring Denton locals, The Sillies,
in June 1997. Since then, we've hosted shows by everyone from Modest
Mouse to Jonathan Richman, from Melt Banana to Daniel Johnston
including several shows on our outdoor stage before the city shut that
option down. Today, Rubber Gloves is stronger than ever thanks to low
cover charges, lack of attitude, and dedicated regulars that make the
complex such a success.
