accented characters in the subject line garbled

Hello,

For messages with accented words in the subject, I often receive
replies with these words garbled; for example
Subject: envoyé
becomes
Subject: Re: envoyé

In other occasions, the accented character is replaced by two XX:
Subject: Re: questões
becomes
Subject: Re: questXXes

I don't think this is a problem with mew (I tested with gmail, and the
accents are correctly delivered), but if you have any recommendation
please let me know.

It seems your UTF-8 string is misinterpreted as iso-8859-1 by the
recipient.

Use only US-ASCII characters to compatible with old/buggy mailers.
