A Monk, Finally.

Hi all,

I am glad to inform you that I have become a monk of the Ramakrishna Order with the name Swami Surarchitananda--One who takes delight in the One [Brahman] whom the Suras or Devas worship.

A bit awkward name. But I will be always the same Vishnu as ever before.

We went through an arduous ritual, the details are too long to mention here. But I shall give you in brief.

Feb 10. The camp began with some preparatory works.

Feb 11, 12, 13. Mantra classes, preparatory works.

Feb 14. Fasting, Shivaratri.

Feb 15. Preparatory works.

Feb 16. Shraddha ceremony.

Feb 17. Fasting.

Feb 18. Sannyasa ceremony, biksha.

Feb 19, 20 Biksha.

Feb 21 Visit to Dakshneswar and local centres.

Feb 22 Visit to Kamarpukur

Feb 23 Visit to Jayrambati

Feb 24 Visit to Antpur

Feb 25 Public Celebration at Belur Math.

The Sannyasa rituals made a deep, lasting impression in our mind. A new spirit, with the idea of complete self-sacrifice, was infused in our being. Now, I can get a fair idea of how Guru Gobind Singh formed the Sikh Khalsa. 

Now I am in Uttarakhand for the last 3 weeks. Spent some really fruitful days in Almora and Mayavati (near Lohaghat). At present, I am in Shayamlatal. It's five kms from Sukhidang. There is small lake (tal), and there is a Tanakpur Point where I get an exquisite view of a valley, with a river flowing between mountain ranges, bordering Nepal.

Mayavati is in the midst of a jungle where leopards and tigers frequent. I spotted some deers and wild monkeys but couldn't spot the tigers.

Had a full view of the Himalayan peaks--Nanda Devi, Nanda Khot, Trishul and Panchasuli.

The network is down here most of the time. So, difficult to post things.

Glad that I achieved what I intented to be. Thinking what to do next...
