Literature is the body of work that opens to us, a whole new world of experiences. It is the means through which people express themselves through its various forms such as creative writing, technical writing or even the more complex scientific pieces of work. It is best manifested through works of fiction and nonfiction, poetry and drama to name a few. Several renowned writers are known to have made significant contributions to society through their literary works which represent whole cultures and ways of life in themselves. One such exceptional writer is the person of Ms. Jaishree Misra.

Jaishree Misra is an eminent writer and the author of eight novels published by Penguin and Harper Collins. She has also worked on an anthology of writings on motherhood, published by Zubaan, as a fund-raising campaign for Save the Children India. Her piece of work ‘'Ancient Promises” went on to become a best seller and is now a prescribed text for the BA Course in English Literature in Kerala University. Her versatility as a writer are seen in several of her works such as 'Accidents Like Love & Marriage', a comedy of manners; 'Afterwards'; 'Rani' and the most recent 'A Love Story for My Sister'.
