I'm starting a discussion thread for story ideas and links of interest
for community members to submit and for blog authors to pickup and run
with. If you have an interesting link or something you think needs to
be talked about, drop it into this thread.

My source for my post this week flopped on me, so I'd love to get some
last-minute recos if anyone has any...

Hi,

Here are some blog ideas I'm planning on covering over the next couple
of weeks

- Toronto Urban Film Festival [Sept 5-12] with a photo of a platform
sign from the ttc
- Wireless access on buses [Google, Airport, Viva] with a Viva bus
photo
- Tickets no longer accepted with a photo of the tickets no longer
accepted sign

- I took a shot of a sign at a Go station parking lot yesterday (no
bikes, rollerblades allowed) that I plan to follow-up on perhaps with
a photo post

I am fairly certain I will end up in Go and Viva stations in Hamilton,
Newmarket, Aurora and Oakville over the next month so I will look for
photo opportunities there.

Best,

Karen

I'm interested in a few ideas, totally up for grabs:

1. the Igor Kenk story, how it turned into a global story, the
mysteries of his motivations (saving bikes for the apocalypse?)
2. green energy technologies
3. telecommuting as substitute for transportation demand
4. information technologies and user-experience of transit

Add more!!

Kevin Beaulieu (Adam G's assistant) brought this event to my
attention. Does anyone want to cover it for Metronauts? Video/photos
would be good to have, and grabbing copies of slides or uploading them
to Slideshare.net would be ideal for a great blog post.

Transit City: Paris, France
Building LRT in a city of subways

Brought to you by the TTC and The Economic Mission of France in
Toronto

Paris is home to one of the world's great subway systems, but in
recent years, it has been building surface light rail transit instead,
with great success. Join us for a presentation about why and how
they're doing it, and how the lessons learned there can help build a
"Transit City" in Toronto.

Presenters from the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP):
Philippe Martin, Vice-President; Remi Feredj, Director of Open Spaces
and Heritage; With an introduction by TTC Chair Adam Giambrone and the
participation of the TTC's Transit City team.
