Advanced Course on 2008 Discipline - Brown Deer UMC/Circuit 30 - Late Winter 2009

An Advanced Course on the new 2008 UM Discipline is being planned by
Brown Deer UMC of Circuit 30 for Late Winter 2009. This will be around
early March.

No exact date has been set at this time because we want to get some
comments and contributions on this proposed course and what interest
there is in having it.

For those newer Lay Speakers, and maybe, even new United Methodist,
every four years, the General Conference of the United Methodist
church meets to discuss and make changes to our Discipline. Some of
you may say, "What Discipline?" Well, it is the rules which as United
Methodists we should follow. Obviously, our first set of rules comes
from the Bible. If you are part of any established organization, you
have rules that help to run that organization or club. The same is
true with our United Methodist Church.

The idea for this Advanced Course is to help those that do not know
about these rules to find out about them and for those that have known
about them, to see what changes were made at the last General
Conference.

Please feel free to enter into the discussion about this course, i.e.,
time, date, where, who will be leading, what good will it do, etc.
These are just a few suggestions. You ask the questions and everyone
can put their two cents worth in also.
