We are meeting this Wednesday at the Royal Oak Public Library. The
meeting time is 5:30-6:30, though we have a conference room reserved
until 7:00.

The topic for this meeting is creational patterns. We'll discuss a
variety of creational patterns and other patterns that make heavy use
of them.

Here is a brief list of what we plan to discuss. Some of these are so
simplistic that we'll probably only briefly mention them, others might
require examples, etc...

1. Creation method
2. Factory
3. Factory method
4. Abstract Factory
5. Singleton/Inline singleton (This is probably the most overused
pattern and appears in 90% of places where alternatives should be
used. We'll discuss bad Singleton practices and alternatives).
6. Builder
7. Repository (this one is not a classic GoF DP. You can read more
about this one in Eric Evans "Domain Driven Design" book, which is a
classic text.

Again, these are not language/technology specific meetings. Examples
can and will be provided in a variety of languages of your choice. We
can also discuss the boundaries between language idioms and patterns,
which seems to be heavily debated right now.

Any other suggestions? Please let me know before Wednesday or just
bring your ideas to the meeting:-)

If you plan on attending please reply. I plan on providing some
refreshments so an accurate attendance count would really help in that
regard.

Thanks.

Sorry, I forgot to mention. The library has wireless access, etc...
I usually come with my laptop. If anyone is going to participate by
demonstrating design, etc... it would be convenient if you brought
your laptop. I'm going to try to get a whiteboard for this meeting,
as the last one was a bit cumbersome without the board.
