Yeah, that sounds very interesting. I got an email from Mary about
this before. Either way, all is good except the "sharing of business
ideas". I'm not sure in what context to interpret that, but if
Compuware is looking to steal business ideas, not sure if this is the
best venue for such sharing:-) (Sorry, I had some bad experiences in
the past with compuware and IP:-).

I understand your concerns but I think you may be talking about a
previous "sharing of business ideas" email.

This looks to me like a teaching / learning event. Compuware seems
to be making more attempts at reaching out to the local developer
community. This should be a much better approach than the previous
OJX events. Those events seemed more focused on one big WOW. The
break out sessons seemed hurried and very high level. A few of the
speakers seemed to be of the "I have a big ego and I'm a jerk so I'm
smarter than you are, now listen to me" mindset. Left a bad taste
for me.

This seems like a regular event for knowledge sharing. Hopefully that
is what it will turn out to be.

I'm not naïve (although lately I feel otherwise) so I know there may
be sales or recruiting involved. Compuware is a business after all.
However, I don't think there will be any idea stealing. That said, I
should be open about the fact that I work for Compuware and I like
it.

I'd really like to see something like the No Fluff Just Stuff or even
SD East / SD West or Java One conferences brought to the Detroit
area. I think Compuware is really the only force that could pull
something like that off. I hope they move into that direction.

If all goes will I'll be attending the talk about the Spring
Framework. Hope to see some of you there.

This is an event to let the IT community come together, learn about a
topic of choice, and network if they would like.

I am a recruiter and will be hosting the event but it is not a
recruiting event. You have to register due to the security we have in
the building but it will not be a recruiting event.

If people would like to learn more about opportunites at Compuware
they can fill out a card to be contacted later at an appropriate time.

Have a great weekend and hope to meet some of you soon.
