I've just installed Inventor 2022, using a student licence. When I launch the desktop app, I'm presented with three login options, the one I need to use is 'Sign in with Autodesk ID', since I don't have a serial number or network licence. I'm just a student trying to use inventor for the first time for college, at home on my laptop. Very similar situation to this post here: -forum/inventor-closes-when-sign-in-with-autodesk-id/m-p/1029...
I did previously have a student license, and I think it might have been tied to my school's network. It expired a while ago, so I can't remember for sure. This was after I got a job and took a break for two years. With my new licence, I've only ever been on my home network.
This has left me extremely confused, I admit I have little experience with this sort of thing. I've gone into my account, under 'All Products and Services', and I'm seeing Inventor there as usual. AutoCAD is also there, and I'm suffering the exact same problems with it as well, so hopefully I can get both running.
My listed licence type is 'Autodesk ID', which is what I've been trying to sign in with. I can't tell if anything is out of place. Do I need to request a home use licence? That process needs a serial number, which I don't seem to have.
Hi! It sounds like the Autodesk Licensing Service is either not properly installed or not properly running. Go to Windows Task Manager -> Services -> find Autodesk Licensing Service -> stop it and restart it.
I have come across the same issue, and I have tried everything on every forum that I've seen, and nothing changes it. I've logged out of it on every other computer that I was using it on as well, and it still will not let me log in with my AutoDesk ID.
I had an issue where inventor would not activate because the Autodesk Desktop app (this is a separate app and not inventor, it's in your start menu) was signed in with a different account from the one I was trying to activate inventor with.
hi friend i run into the same probleme as you mention, and i was thankfully able to solve it, and the solution is pretty simple, all you need to do is to log in into your autodesk account, then click on account on the top right corner, then you go to products and services, you scroll till you find the desired product(inventor pro), then click on it and all you need to do is to download the updates that's availble on that page and install them (Autodesk Licensing Service,Single Sign On Component) hopefully this will help you
If you intend to reuse an adaptive sketch (a sketch driven by another component in the assembly), you may consider using Copy Object workflow (Modify -> expand the tab -> Copy Object). Copy Object is also adaptive. You can copy the body or face geometry from one part to the editing part. After the geometry is copied (linked), you can project the edges to a sketch. The sketch will be regular sketch. But, the copied geometry is adaptive. So, they will still be driving by the other part.
I think I found it, so as u suggested I used project geometry on a new sketch and then I could extrude without a problem. Hopefully everything wil change accordingly to the objects on the bottom plate.
This looks like an old issue and I am using 2024 Inventor now and experiencing the same problem. I have a shared sketch that is adaptive and I cannot create a new extrude feature from that shared sketch. This is not a close loop problem with my sketch elements as I have other existing extruded features that I can edit and add the additional sketch loops to preexisting feature, but for some weird reason it will not allow for a new extrude feature to detect existing sketch to consume those close loop profiles. visibility is turned on. Can someone from Autodesk shed light on why this is a problem to help understand reasoning? I am not looking for an alternative workflow that is not a real solution.
Hi! An adaptive sketch should be be shared or vice versa. There are a few workflows leading to a shared adaptive sketch due to the browser node order. Unfortunately, when a "shared" adaptive sketch cannot be reused. You will need to unshare the sketch or delete the feature consuming the sketch.
Hi! Please share the file on a cloud drive of your choice and grant me the access (johnso...@autodesk.com). I would like to take a look at this issue, though I don't think I have a good solution. But at least I can confirm the behavior you are seeing.
First post here, I have done a LOT of searching, but I still have not found a simple answer to this question. So, lets imagine that you have a model of an open ended pipe on both sides in inventor, and inside of this pipe is a complex object such as a propellor. What would be the easiest way to fill that pipe ( starting at the open ends and including the void between the blades of the propellor) with a single new domain that is selectable.
Are you creating the flood fill component this way? Or does the previous post do something else? What I am after is to be able to have the flow channel, where I can put random objects inside of it. And then have a way to create an object which would completly fill the channel, minus the spots where the objects are.
.... What I am after is to be able to have the flow channel, where I can put random objects inside of it. And then have a way to create an object which would completly fill the channel, minus the spots where the objects are. ...
Yeah I could have been a bit more clear perhaps... I like the idea of using derived components, because I want to have a good general technique for doing this since not everything I will be doing will have a geomotry this simple.
Here is a general solution that works with any complex box shape. (if the outer shape is always this box, then there is a far easier solution) The complexity of the part placed in the box is irrelevant. It is the shape of the box that defines the best technique.
Thanks for the help, I was able to follow your solution up until when it came to deleting a face. What is the purpose of deleting one of the faces? I was able to find the patch and sculpt comands. However, when I am doing this, it does not create a new solid. Perhaps you could provide pictures of deleting a face, patching, using the sculpt command and using combine cut?
