Hello everyone,
As you all noted, I did not mention markers for the a- and b- chromosomes or even the alleles. Therefore, you have to rely what the opposite chromosome is marked by, to identify which chromosome carries your allele. i.e. if the animal does not have Tm6 or MKRS or CyO or Sc, what other chromosomes can it have?
Having markers for the allelles would make it very easy to identify the recombinant chromosome in problem 4. Since we don't have them, it is best to individually cross candidate males into balancer females, ensure the females are fertilised, and then test for both alleles in each candidate animal by PCR.
Hope this exercise was useful. Good luck.
