Retrieving connected hostids..

Hey there, I've got meteor up and running on my site (http://
v2.settlersonline.net). I've created a facebook style site-wide chat
application with it and it works great. I'm really enjoying working
with meteor and now I want to do more. :)

I'm thinking of how I can further expand my site with more "presency"
type applications like friends lists, etc, and it occurred to me that
meteor would be absolutely fabulous for this... if I could query it to
get the hostids of actual subscribers. I'm using my site's user ids,
which are guaranteed to be unique, as the host ids when each person
connects. I have a "global" channel that every user enters when they
are logged into the site on every page they visit. If I could
actually query this channel with something like "LISTSUBSCRIBERS
global", that would appear to be a fantastic way of actually
determining if users have left my site because the connection is going
to close and meteor is going to know about it.

Would something like this be easy to implement?

I realized that the latest version actually has this already, it's
just not the version in the tarball.
