Let me start out by saying that I absolutely love Meteor and am so excited to starting using it!  That being said, I was sad today when I went to install it onto a Joyent SmartOS server and realized that it would not work.  Joyent SmartOS is built off Solaris, hence the reason why Meteor would not even install.

My question is..are there any plans to support Joyent SmartOS anytime in the near future?  Any way to get the current Meteor version working on this OS in the meantime?

We'd love to, but unfortunately node-fibers (the coroutine library
Meteor uses on the server) doesn't support Solaris.

Joyent sponsors node.js development so they may be able to help with this.

I just found this thread while searching for something else.

Meteor currently works with solaris and we've done couple of deployments.
Meteor Up has built in support to deploy into smartos(or any other solaris flavor) and no need worry about smartos specific configurations.
