Hello,

I am new to kubernetes, but have built a stack bare metal from the ground up.  I am trying to integrate MetalLB at the L2 level.

I am using the Calico operator in iptables mode.

I cannot connect to any EXTERNAL IP's except inside the node stack.

I looked around for about an hour last night.

Can I easily make this work?

Hi Web Dawg,

Did you configure kube-proxy for ivps mode and set StrictARP to TRUE?

Is the node stacks's network on a different network from other resources?
Not sure if that would have an impact but just wanted to check.

Is the node stacks's network on a different network from other resources?

I've got a VM cluster with calico using bridge interfaces running in my home lab and everything is working as expected.

How is your external routing managed?

The node where metal LB pod's are running, can you add a virtual interface to that node in the same IP range and see if the routing actually is working ?

If not, the external router which is acting as gateway to metal LB nodes needs a route to broadcast that all traffic for the IP block should be routed to it.

Hopefully it helps.

thanks,

Pankaj
