A few important new releases are using Metalinks.

OpenOffice.org 2.1 is out and can be downloaded with Metalinks:

openSUSE 10.2 was released last week. 20,000 openSUSE ISO .metalinks
were downloaded the first day, and about 60,000 total so far.

Finally, on an unrelated-to-Metalink note, Sun Download Manager 2.0 is
out. It doesn't support Metalink, but has other important features to
make downloading easier and more reliable. If you're going to download
