Dear all,

You are cordially invited to participate in the 2017 edition of the Open Machine Learning Hackathon, which will take place 9-13 October in Leiden, The Netherlands.

The idea of these workshops is to bring together the people that build or use open machine learning tools, within an intimate atmosphere (no more than 50 people) and plenty of time to interact. It is open to machine learning researchers, open scientists applying machine learning within their domains, or anyone who wants to help make machine learning more accessible to a wider audience. It is organized as a week-long hackathon in which small teams work on individual projects, but also regularly interact with each other. You'll also learn about OpenML.org, an open, online ecosystem for easily building, evaluating and sharing machine learning models across domains (see https://www.openml.org). We have an active social program, which typically includes a boat ride, pizza evening, and a cheese and wine evening. For a first impression, see last year's pictures here: https://www.flickr.com/search/?text=OpenML2016

It is organized in the Lorentz Center, which also provides small offices in case you need to take calls or do urgent work in between, as well as bicycle hire and child daycare should you bring your family.

We have especially reserved room for scientists from all data-driven sciences that use machine in their work. You are very welcome to:
* Bring your own data: if you have interesting (ideally open) data, bring it along and learn how you can analyse it with new tools.
* Bring your own code: if you have your own (ideally open source) code that you like to connect to the OpenML ecosystem, you'll learn how to do that.
* Bring your own data science / programming skills to build cool new machine learning tools to push science forward.

To apply, all you need to do is tell us a bit about yourself. More information and the registration form can be found at http://hackathon.openml.org/.

Hope to see you soon in Leiden!
