Hi Metal3 users,
I would like to notify you that the Ironic community is deprecating the iRMC driver. It has been undermaintained for a few years now, it has an outdated dependency on an old and vulnerable version of PySNMP, and the vendor has indicated that they don't have cycles to maintain the driver further.
The iRMC driver will be removed from BMO in version 0.13 (presumably early next year) and will be disabled in the corresponding version of ironic-image. Users of the iRMC hardware should migrate either to Redfish (recommended) or IPMI depending on their hardware capabilities.
Note that this removal will leave BMO without a single implementation of the BareMetalHost.Spec.Firmware field [1]. The community needs to decide how to proceed with it. Either someone picks up the work to implement it for Redfish (taking into account vendor differences), or it will be removed in BMH v1beta1 in favour of HostFirmwareSettings.
Dmitry
[1] Not to be confused with the HostFirmwareSettings API, which is implemented for Redfish.
