It's been a while since the last version release of the Java metadata-extractor library, and quite a bit has happened in that time.

Firstly, the project has moved to GitHub:

GitHub is a much better place for collaborative development of the library than Google Code.

Secondly, releases are now made available via Maven. This was a very popular request.

Speaking of releases, there have been three in the 2.7.x family since the last announcement. You can read all the details in the change log:

Highlights:
  • Support for PNG, GIF and BMP files
  • New camera makernotes for Leica, Sanyo and Ricoh
  • Improved performance, significantly reducing IO
  • Better support for non-English locales and character encodings
  • Many minor bug fixes
Development of the library has picked up lately, so if you have any problems you'd like to see addressed, or features you'd like to have, please let me know on the GitHub issue tracker.

Drew.
