We’re entering the final month of Round 2 of the Meta-Layer Initiative’s Call for Input—and the signals are strong.

✅ We now have around 25 submissions exploring civic overlays, semantic annotation, presence-based trust, AI co-governance, and more.

🌱 Two new Desirable Properties are emerging—Digital Preservation and Living Governance of the Meta-Layer Initiative itself.

But this is just the beginning.

If you believe in a more people-centered Internet—or a world more aligned with care, cognition, and collective wisdom—please make a submission. Better yet, encourage a few others to do the same. A link, an idea, or a document is all it takes.

🔬 AI Containment Shift: From Cages to Cribs

We’re completing a foundational research paper—Community-Governed AI Containment Above the Webpage—that redefines AI safety at the interface level. Instead of building better cages, we’re proposing new civic arenas: governed overlays above webpages where people and agents coexist safely.

This work, deeply aligned with De Kai’s forthcoming book Raising AI (June 3rd), proposes interface-level governance through browser overlays, consent stacks, and community-driven norms.

We’re also prototyping this with two brilliant interns from University at Buffalo—and yes, we’d love help from experienced builders.

We’ll also be submitting to the New Rising Ventures nonprofit AI fund. We're waiting to hear back from the Foresight Institute🤞🏽. Please let us know of aligned funding opportunities that come across your desk.

We’re also in dialogue with a leading responsible tech conference organizer about a virtual convening on a Trust Layer for the Web. This will explore the emerging Trust Stack: from identity and presence to norms and composable policy zones.
