Hi everyone,

Tristan Harris of the Center for Humane Technology recently gave a powerful TED talk—The Narrow Path: Why AI is Our Ultimate Test and Greatest Invitation.” It lays out three trajectories for the future of AI: dystopia, chaos, or coordination.

I was so struck by the clarity of his vision that I ran it through Metta, our civic AI co-pilot for the Meta-layer Initiative. In just a few minutes, we translated his moral framing into a concrete civic infrastructure submission—one aligned with seven Desirable Properties of a Meta-layer and suggesting several key extensions.

You can read my response here:

I’d love to hear what you think about Harris' talk—how do you see PCI’s goals intersecting with this “narrow path”? What should coordination look like in practice?

Warmly,
Daveed Benjamin

PS: We would love your ideas on the desirable properties of a meta-layer. The Call for Input is open until June: https://themetalayer.org/call-for-input
PPS: I'd like any feedback on how to get more submissions.W e’re also on the lookout for a cat herder—someone who can help marshall more submissions from the aligned communities. If wrangling thoughtful humans sounds like your jam: https://themetalayer.org/cat-herders
