We’d love to run Algorithmic Duty of Care through our Meta-Layer Submission Assistant—not just to celebrate it, but to discover clarifications, connections, and potential extensions to the Desirable Properties of the Metaweb. Your focus on duty of care, real cases, and digital constitutionalism resonates deeply with our vision for contextual overlays, accountable infrastructure, and collective sensemaking above the webpage.
Also, we’d be thrilled to collaborate on making the Meta-Layer a case study for your next book, Designing Artificial Compassion Technology. The idea of a visible, enforceable trust layer that supports algorithmic care is a powerful anchor for that exploration.
Thanks again for writing this book into existence. And for holding the line on behalf of public interest tech, ethics, and the future we all want to live in.
Dear All,
After much sweat, the book Algorithmic Duty of Care,
subtitle - Algorithm love thy neighbor is now out on amazon!
This is timely, because "the big beautiful bill" has a rider on it that
intends to stop states from passing any legislation/policy regulating
AI/algorithms.
Nutshell: This book is at the intersection of law, technology and
ethics. Unlike most
books on this topic, we look at 3 real court cases, one of which the
criminal trial starts
in 2027. It summarizes the global laws and policies around AI /
algorithms, which is
fascinating because some countries are actually using AI to *create*
laws,
policies... It also shows how relevant the Magna Carta is today, as it
relates to a new kind of unbridled power and digital kingdoms.
If you'd like a copy but can't afford one, please reach out to me!
The ebook should be up soon...
Here's the amazon link and the book web page:

Cheers!

"The Magna Carta was a response to power wielded without restraint. So,
too, is the idea of a duty of care for algorithms.
The question is whether we will write it before the machine writes it
for us."
