Happy Monday!

We’re thrilled to share an update on the second round of the Call for Input on the Desirable Properties (DPs) of a Meta-Layer, which officially closed on June 30th. Thank you to everyone who contributed -- your insights are shaping a foundational layer for a more trustworthy, participatory internet.

📊 Round 2 Highlights

  • Over 25 contributors submitted insights across all 20 DPs

  • Submissions ranged from technical primitives and governance patterns to ethical considerations and use case proposals

  • Inputs came from 5 continents, spanning civil society, AI, journalism, education, regenerative design, and more

All submissions have been published to GitHub for open reference and remix:

We’ve also launched a web application to explore these submissions in context:

🔧 How You Can Join In

  1. Contribute to the Desirable Properties Essay

We’re writing a collaborative essay to synthesize and illuminate the Desirable Properties of a Meta-layer. We’re inviting subject-matter stewards to help bottom-line specific DPs related to their expertise or interests. Send message to dav...@bridgit.io.

  2. Help start the Meta-Layer Infrastructure SIG at ISOC

We're establishing an Internet Society Special Interest Group (SIG) focused on Meta-Layer Infrastructure.

➡️ We need 25 founding members to form the SIG. Join here:

🌐 Why form an ISOC SIG?

    • Positions the Meta-Layer within a global network of civic tech leadership

    • Opens access to funding and infrastructure support

    • Creates pathways for synergy across SIGs (AI, online safety, education)

    • Anchors Meta-Layer Infrastructure in ISOC’s legacy of openness and trust

  3. Help Prototype Safe Human–AI Coexistence (Summer Sprint)

We’re building a prototype system that operationalizes interface-level containment and community-based AI oversight. The stack includes:
    • Browser overlays for presence-based interactions

    • TEE-bound AI agents in Phala Network

    • Community-governed rule enforcement

    • Consent-aware UX and federated identity

If you have skills in web development, AI coding, AI, product design, UX, or project management and want to help out, contact dav...@bridgit.io.

📅 Aug–Oct Activation Phase

As we move toward ISOC SIG approval, we’ll be:

  • Hosting activation events

  • Publishing the Meta-Layer Use Case Fieldbook

  • Launching a contributor recognition layer

If this work speaks to you, we invite you to join, co-create, and help steer the Internet's next layer.

Warmly,
Meta-Layer team
