Looks like there isn't much recent activity but I am attempting to come up to speed with Yocto. I currently have a debian-8 non-Yocto build I am trying to upgrade and thought that using meta-debian might be a good place to start.

However I am getting failures with gettid (compiler notes redundant definitions) and stime (compiler thinks perhaps I should be using utime) in linux-user/syscall.c

I found a patch file for a prior release that doesn't fit the current git repo. having to do with a new glib.c  (https://patchwork.openembedded.org/patch/165581/

One of the files to be patched is qemu_3.0.0.bb which has been updated to qemu_3.1.1.1.bb

I can provide more details (perhaps versions of specific utilities?)  if needed but if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Happy Holidays...
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

Thank you for your interest.

> I currently have a debian-8 non-Yocto build I am trying to upgrade and thought that using meta-debian might be a good place to start.

Please note that meta-debian supports two Debian versions: 8 (jessie) and 10 (buster).
"morty" branch targets on Debian 8 and "warrior" branch does 10.
I'm guessing you are trying to use the "warrior" branch.

Could you share the build conditions & target you tried
(Commands to setup meta layers, custom changes to local.conf, MACHINE value, bitbake target, etc.)
and the concrete build errors so that we can provide better hints?
I have not seen the related issue with both branches above.
Reporting the issue at https://github.com/meta-debian/meta-debian/issues would be better way if you don't mind.

Happy holidays!

Quick update to my build issue, I wasnt following the instructions properly in that I was building from an ubuntu VM and not Debian 10. I have since tried building within docker which built fine.
