The problem with ideology is, if you've got an ideology, you've
already got your mind made up. You know all the answers and that makes
evidence irrelevant and arguments a waste of time. You tend to govern
by assertion and attacks.

Bill Clinton, At an event sponsored by the Center for American
Progress, October 18, 2006

It is easy to get to a higher number when you are not asking anything
difficult from yourself.

Barrack Obama, In response to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-
Va.), who, on behalf of the Republican party, wanted steeper cuts,
while opposing tax rises (also termed as revenue enhancements) in a
meeting about the U.S. debt ceiling on July 13, 2011.

What [Obama] is talking about is the absorption of as much of the
private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking
business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health
care. I do not want the government in charge of all of these things. I
don't want this to work. So I'm thinking of replying to the guy,
"Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need
four: I hope he fails."

Rush Limbaugh, on his radio show four days before Barack Obama's
inauguration [26] (16 January 2009)

Syd stood in front of the Kroger's grociery store.
Inside, a group of leading economist were trying to decide what the
budget of the nation would be. They had been in there arguing for more
then ten hours. And they could take ten more if they decided to. They
didn't care what the outside world thought.
Their arrogance insulted him. They treated the US's citizens as third
grade, deported all the good jobs overseas where costs were lower, and
chuckled as they smoked their cigars and burned dollor bills as
cigerettes. They were not the responcible types that the PR wanted
people to believe.
And the congressmen in their pockets let them get away with it.
He shook his head.

There's never a perfect bipartisan bill in the eyes of a partisan.

Bill Clinton, The Economist, 18th December 2010, p.74

I've been left at the altar now a couple of times.

Barrack Obama, On the progress with debt ceiling negotiations.[14],
[15]
With health reform and the so-called “public option” reportedly on
life support (although some activists strongly disagree with that
prognosis), and the increasingly unpopular Afghanistan war on the
verge of yet another escalation, many progressives and Democrats are
frustrated, angry, or simply scratching their heads in disbelief. The
Obama they thought they elected is not meeting their expectations.

with Frustration with Obama on Their Minds, 2009-09-04.

"What can you do about that kind of arrogance?" Hitori Mensch
straightened her coyote fur coat in the mirror, then stood up. She
stopped and combed a flick of hair back.
Syd shook his at her question, his eyes glued to her appearence. He
had to admit how stunning she looked. Not like some spoiled rich
bitch, but as a beautiful woman who happened to be wearing fur. It
suited her.
"They think they can bilk us and abuse us because we will crawl for
whatever crumb of a job they throw us. They don't understand anything.
They think of the middle class..."
"What's left of it," she interjected.
"...As dogs that they can kick around as amusement. They don't see or
want to see how they suffer. They find it amusing. They are cruel
heartless tycoons. No different from the robber barons of the nineteen
hundreds. No different. They don't owe the lower classes jack shit.
Give us our money, and shut up."
She nodded. "No different indeed from the begining. They always
thought they were special. Different. What a change a little money
makes."
"I'd like to show those fools what for."
She looked at him. "The eternal dream of the trod apon. They say the
same thing. But what can we do? The sneering rich will be with us
always."
Syd shook his head. "Don't remind me."
She smiled humorlessly. "It's a fact. The sneering rich are impossible
to irradicate. They have a way of sprining back up. Look at the French
Revolution."
He sighed. "They succeded, but then turned on each other. The movement
rotted from the inside. Too many power hungry persons in any movement.
They replace one tyront with another."
She nodded, then moved over to him and put her long sleeve around his
neck. He turned in surprise, smirked.

The size of the Federal budget is not an appropriate barometer of
social conscience or charitable concern.

Ronald Reagon, Remarks at the Annual Meeting of the National
Alliance of Business, (5 October 1981)

Barack Obama has failed America. When he took office, the economy was
in recession. He made it worse. And he made it last longer. Three
years later, over 16 million Americans are out of work or have just
quit looking. Millions more are underemployed. Three years later,
unemployment is still above 8%, a figure he said his stimulus would
keep from happening. Three years later, foreclosures are still at
record levels. Three years later the prices of homes continue to fall.
Three years later, our national debt has grown nearly as large as our
entire economy. Families are buried under higher prices for food and
higher prices for gasoline. It breaks my heart to see what’s happening
in this country. These failing hopes make up President Obama’s own
misery index. It’s never been higher.

Mitt Romney 2012 Presidential Campaign Announcement Speech

"It's blasphomy to not defer to the Rich and Powerful. They know
better then we do." The Bishop Maxwell wiped his face under the severe
light of the gigantic cathedral. He paused and looked around the huge
stage and up into the nosebleed seats. This was his most popular
speach, and he knew it.
"The Lord God said to defer your opinions to leaders. That includes
the leaders of commerce. They did not become such overnight. They the
most intense training, special training, to be able to handle gigantic
sums. They have special knowledge unknown to us common people.
Remember that, next time you critique their decision."
The crowd erupted. The Bishop bowed low.

I am not worried about the deficit. It is big enough to take care
of itself.
Joke at the Gridiron Club annual dinner. (24 March 1984)

Let me tell you something -- wait a minute. You know one things that's
wrong with this country? Everybody gets a chance to have their fair
say. My budget did more to fight AIDS than any in history, and we're
having to put up with this. (Applause.) Tell them to let me talk.
(Applause.) If you want to give a speech -- go out there and raise
your own crowd. We'll be glad to listen to you. (Applause.) So there
were those -- (interruption) -- I'll make you a deal. I'll ignore them
if you will. (Applause.)

Bill Clinton, Response to hecklers, courtyard of Philadelphia City
Hall (May 28, 1993)[2]

"We are outflanked on all side." Syd sighed as he brushed a stray leaf
from his hair. Ms. Laurie grinned.
"Did you think that the sectarion sector would not jump on their side?
Silly. They know where their bread is buttered."
He grunted. "I would have thought they'd live up to all those 'morals'
they claimed to have."
"Even morals must bow before commerce." She took his arm as they
neared her car. "They keep the churchs well funded, and they pay lip
service to the 'superiority of the leaders'. It's all cynical
manipulation."
He sighed. "Yeah, but what bugs me is how compeletely the people buy
into it. How quickly. It's nauseating."
She nodded. "That's easy to do when it's what you want to hear."

He (Reagon) knows less about the budget than any president in my
lifetime. He can't even carry on a conversation about the budget. It's
an absolute and utter disgrace.

House Speaker Tip O'Neill[citation needed]

The Kroger stood before him. It was now near two in the morning, and
the assembled had not stirred from the building all day. He decided
that some action was warrented.
He climbed a local tree oposite from the store. He had seen no guards
all day, but he was cautious. He got to the upper limbs of the tree
and tossed a rope loop across the way. It caught on a small pipe
chiminay. Syd smiled.
He pulled a piece of leather over the cord and slid along the rope.
His breathing echoed in his ears, and his mussles ached. Any moment,
he expected some machine-gun totting guard to appear and open fire on
him. But, he reached to opposite ledge without incident. He leaped
over it and stood on the roof.
He quickly took shelter behind a large block that was probably the air
conditioner. He then moved into the shadow of another large blocky
object. He looked around.
Nothing. No movement at all.
Puzzled, he stepped out carefully and made for the opening that sat in
the middle of the space. The entrance inside.
Warily, every scense alart and active, he entered the building proper.
Nothing impeded his progress. No shadowy figure stepped forward to
challange him. He continued slowly down the tiny stairwell to the
manager's office.
Inside, he saw several men seated around a table. He watched them for
several minutes, but didn't see any of them move.
Puzzled, he gently picked the lock and entered. None turned at his
entrance. He stepped even further into the light.
He saw why they had not moved. They were all dead.
He examined the dead carefully. He found that each had several tiny
machine gun bullets stitched across their chests.
Syd shook his head. "Someone had the same idea," he said to Bernard
Backdoor, media mogol and all around liar. He reached over and closed
Backdoor's eyes and then did the same for the rest.
He stood and contemplated what to do.
A cold, grim smile appeared on his face.

Black unemployment is terrible. The black frame of mind is terrible,
they're depressed, they're down — Obama's not doing anything for 'em.
How is that hoax and change workin' for ya? They're all livid. I mean,
they thought there were gonna be an exact 180-degree economic reversal
and it's done nothing but get bad for everybody, but they're
especially upset about it because they look at him as one of them, and
now they feel abandoned. And I'm sure Tiger Woods' choice of females
not helping 'em out with their attitudes there either.

Rush Limbaugh, On the Black state of mind, The Rush Limbaugh Show,
December 8, 2009

Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of
ambition. It asks too little of yourself. ... Because it’s only when
you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you
realize your true potential.

Barrack Obama, Knox College Commencement Address (4 June 2005)

This country now possesses the strongest credit in the world. The full
consequences of a default or even the serious prospect of default by
the United States are impossible to predict and awesome to
contemplate. Denigration of the full faith and credit of the United
States would have substantial effects on the domestic financial
markets and on the value of the dollar in exchange markets. The Nation
can ill afford to allow such a result. The risks, the cost, the
disruptions, and the incalculable damage lead me to but one
conclusion: the Senate must pass this legislation before the Congress
adjourns.

Ronald Reagon, Letter to Majority Leader Howard Baker, urging an
increase in public debt ceiling (16 November 1983)

"Syd", called Ms. Laurie as she entered noisely into his small mobile
home. "Is this you're doing?"
Syd took the paper from her hand and examined it.
"Hmmm... Twenty of the top economic powe players killed last night in
suspicious explosion."
She looked at him sternly. "Well?"
"Well what?"

"Did you do that?" She had a stern expression. He shrugged.
"Partially."
"How can you partially do something like that?" She was outraged.
He grinned. "Easy. I didn't kill them. Someone else did. Probably some
lower class worker, frustrated at being out of a job and those clowns
doing absolutely nothing to help him. He most likely came onto them,
and when they reacted to his problems by laughing and telling him it's
his own problem, well, he cracked. They were shot."
She blinked her dark eyes. "Shot?"
He nodded. "With a Thompson Machine Gun, I reckon. The holes look
right. I decided to help out."
"And get some manner of revenge too?"
He smirked. "But of course."
