Library Run

Syd Marduke walked through the shelves of the library. He scanned the
them, trying to find something worth reading.
He shrugged.
He had come here to see about a book request. The initial request had
been months ago, and it still had not come in. That seriously annoyed
him, but then so did much these days.
A girl in silver fox appeared besides him.
He studied her out of the corner of his eye. She was short, very
blond, with Grey eyes. She was more pretty then beautiful. The coat
terminated at her knees. Her long stockinged legs ended in black
boots. Under the coat she wore a dark vest over a dark blouse.
She looked at him, and he smiled at her. She smiled back. She
indicated a book, and asked him about it.
"School girl falls for hypothetically handsome vampire. Wish fulfillment tale. Good, if you
like that kind of thing," he commented.
"Well, I loved the first one," she replied.
He smiled, said "Then you'll love this one."
She gave him a look, and stuck it under her furry arm. Syd started to
brush by her, when she asked him to help her find a book. He agreed,
and she took his arm and led him to the fiction section. They took
nearly an hour searching through romance novels, and finally they found
it. She reached over and squeezed his arm, then walked off. Syd
shrugged, then went back to his original search.
After he checked out and went outside, he found the blond leaning
against the wall, looking out towards the highway. She saw him, and
raised a hand in greeting. She asked him if he'd mind giving her a
ride. He asked about her vehicle, and she said "I'm not having a good
day, so I want a diversion."
He smiled, put his arm around her, and led her to his car. He enjoyed
the fabric of her coat. He helped her into his sports car, and they
stopped by a Burger King just off Blossom street. Over the meal, he
learned she was Tara Powers, the daughter of a successful small
business owner.
They then discussed small stuff like music, then Syd invited her to
come home with him. She hesitated, but accepted.

They arrived at his Harbison house. The house was a two story building
giving a impression of white and gold. Many windows adorned it, and
the roof was green. He held the door open for her, then started to
help her remove her coat, but she insisted on keeping it on. He
happily let her, took her furry arm and gave her a tour.
They ended up watching the original STAR WARS films. During EMPIRE
STRIKES BACK, Syd put his hand on her knee, and, after not getting a
negative reaction, slid it gently up her leg. Her breathing was heavy
as he did this. He reached her skirt, and slid expertly up it. She
rolled her eyes back, grabbed his hand, and guided it. He leaned over
the rail, and kissed her full on the mouth. She threw her arms around
his neck, and returned the kiss passionately. He rubbed his hand over
her body. He squeezed her breast.
"Do or do not. There is no try."
Syd pulled her stockings off, then her underwear. Tara moved over,
straddled him, pulling his pants open, and stroked his penis while Syd
stroked her coat. She kissed him with passion, which he returned. Her
coat tickled his cheek.
Soon, she took his member inside her, and rocked gently back and
forth. He moved forward, letting it tickle her sexual insides.
Her moaning was escalating, ending in a high pitch scream that burst
the bubble, causing them both to collapse. They were drained.
"My God", she said, "That's the first time I've had anything that
powerful!"

Tara opened her eyes slowly.
Recognition awoke slowly in her, reminding her of just were she was. The form besides her stirred for a moment, then was still.
From beyond the room, she thought she heard sounds of movement. She froze for a moment, listening. She shook the form near her carefully. He didn't stir. The sounds seemed to creep up, right up to the closed bedroom door. She shook him again. Syd grunted slightly.
“Good morning, Hitori. Playing at Timasky now?”
She looked at him in surprise. She was even more surprised when the door opened and a girl stepped in. She was smaller then Tara was, and thinner. Her hair was dark. Her eyes were jade green. It made her exotic features stand out in sharp relief. Around her thin shoulders hung a silver fox fur coat. Tara looked on with mild jealousy. Her coat was far bulkier, expensive, then Tara's. The girl spared a glance on her, then focused on Syd. Her glance made Tara feel small.
“The late night ball was a success, I take it?” Even her voice seemed refined, musical. Tara shrank behind Syd even more. He smiled at her words.
“The Force was with us, yes.”
Hitori Mensch nodded, then took a seat on the edge of the bed. From a pocket inside the coat, she took a small envelope. “It appears that Ms. Clair is at it again.”
“That cunt?” He raised his eyebrow. “What is that bitch up to now?”
Tara winced at his vulgarity. Hitori seemed not to notice.
She handed him the note. “She is messing with all the temporal factors put in place by Ms. Laurie.”
He sighed. “Fuck.”
Tara winced again, and then started to crawl into her little fur coat. She felt pale and colorless next to this exotic creature before her. Hitori didn't notice her anguish. She pulled out a cigarette, tossed one to Syd, then lit them both. Syd stood up, and started to look around until he found a folder. Hitori stood up and went to stand beside him. He nodded to her, reaching out slightly to stroke her luxurious fur coat. It was big, Tara noted, far larger then the girl wearing it. He slid his hand up and down her coat.
Tara rose from the bed, and inched around the two, into the hall. She found the bathroom down the hall, and, after completing her task, found a bookcase nestled in a corner. She looked over the multitude of books, then reached out and pulled one off the shelf. She gasped in surprise.
It was one of the Gor series of novels.
Curious, she flipped it open. She found some handwritten notes in the margin.
One struck her as funny near the beginning: “He just couldn't wait to get to bondage.”
This made her chuckle out loud.
She felt a hand touch her back, and she spun.
She faced that exotic, glamorous girl. She was smiling.
“He's all yours.” She went past her in a cloud of pink perfume and airy lightness and was gone.
Tara watched, with a mixture of emotions.

Ms Laurie stood on a small hill overlooking a small city.
Currently, the city was trailing long smoke trails far into the sky. Flames rustled restlessly among the building as the survivors ran like mad to escape the carnage.
She shook her blond head sadly. She pulled the dark fox coat more tightly around her slim form, and brooded. She heard a cough behind her. She sighed. She recognized the voice.
“Took you long enough,” she sneered.
Syd Marduke snorted. “You'd rather I didn't show up at all?”
She grunted and pointed to the city. “You sure didn't help them, did you?”
“Was I supposed to?”
She shot a nasty glare at him. “You are such a miserable little...”
“Now, now, Ms. L.” He stepped behind her and rubbed the soft fabric of her coat. “I had enough problems getting here. Don't start holding me responsible for stuff outside of my control.”
She grunted, not really believing him. He shrugged, watching the refugees sorting out family from the falling rubble and personal belongings from useless material.
The exodus was on.

The sun shone through the orange haze.
Syd Marduke and Hitori Mensch stood at the entrance of a badly damaged government building. It was set at the side, up a series of shallow steps. The entrance proper was a series of glass panels, one of which Hitori was currently staring into.
Syd glanced at her, admiring her large gold fur coat. It fell gracefully to her ankles in waves of shiny splendor. The color set off her complexion.
He smiled, turned to look at the neighboring buildings. They were in ragged, rough shape.
He sighed. The extremists had been so bloodthirsty that they had disregarded anyone who got caught in their way, be they soldiers or civilians, in their single minded pursuit of the President.
Hitori stirred. “The sense of fear is strong these days.”
Syd looked at her. She might have read his mind. He nodded to her reflection in the glass.
The cold wind picked up around them. It blew red dust in it's wake.
Syd pulled the collar of his tan coat tightly and cursed under his breath. Hitori shivered under her heavy fur coat. She stepped back, closer to Syd.
He glanced at her and smiled.
She was now fairly close to him. He reached up and touched the sleeve of her coat. His hand brushed over the very soft fabric with glee.
Hitori continued to stand there, giving no indication of being aware of what he was doing. Her exotic face was blank.
A loud discharge shook the building.
Syd sighed. “Never ends, does it?”
She didn't respond. He shrugged and turned back to the city. The sky glowed orange, red dust fell over everything, rubble filled the street.
She moved her arm, shifting his hand from her elbow to her side. Her sleeve crushed his hand between two walls of thick, soft fur. He sighed in pleasure.
The discharge sounded again.
Hitori sighed. “No peace for the extremists.”
Syd nodded, sardonically. “And they make no peace for real, normal people.”
She moved again, shifting her position to the right. She now was parallel with Syd. He had his arm around her back. She leaned over onto him. Her perfume drifted up into his nostrils. He looked down at her. She smiled, and he returned it. Her large collar brushed his cheek.
Again, the discharge sounded, closer then before.
Hitori shook her head. Syd didn't comment. He simply continued to rub her coat affectionately.
He sniffed the air and recognized various detergents that were there to hide something. Syd took in a deep breath and finally knew what was being covered up.
He smelled fear. Fear of the other. Fear of change. Ignorant fear. Selfish fear. The cold, stale, searing smell of absolute and unmitigated fear.
“Fear”, he murmured.
“The mind killer”, she replied. “It is not sensible or reasonable. It stops the thinking mind. It is a reptile force when invoked by leaders. It can't be reasoned with. It provokes violence. The ultimate destroyer.”
An answering discharge came from behind them, causing their building to shake. Grey rubble fell around them, but neither of them moved.
Hitori moved again, putting her heavy fur sleeve around Syd's neck. He felt the flesh tingle on the back of his neck as it touched the fabric. He smiled.
From around the side of the buildings came dark clad soldiers. They were running towards the location of the first gun.
None of them noticed Syd and Hitori.
They watched until the Soldier-T had vanished behind the rubble of the buildings, then they glanced at each other knowingly.
From where they had vanished came a large orange explosion.
Several soldiers in Grey came rushing from the same spot, M-16s raised. They spread out and ran around Syd and Hitori's location.
And none of them noticed them.
The Soldier-P's vanished, and silence reigned again.
For the time being, at least.
“I could sure use a drink”, Syd murmured.
Hitori simply nodded. Her eyes were heavy with sadness, melancholy.
The war raged all over the globe. It was a true world war. Countries were being torn apart from within. Already, many lives had been lost.
The sun shone through the orange haze.
