Subject: Empire 7's - November 19th

High School Coaches,
cc. John Gemma – Tournament Chair

I would just like to invite you and your players to come and watch the Empire 7s Tournament on November 19th at Stony Brook University (Directions Below). The tournament is a qualifier with the winner heading to Texas for the USA Collegiate 7’s Championship on December 16/17. I hope this would be a good opportunity for your players to watch some good collegiate rugby and talk with coaches about both their University and rugby programs. A list of teams participating is below. The first match is set to kick off at 11AM and the finals will be after 6PM. We will have concessions and a heated tent at the event.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or tournament chair John Gemma (cc’d).

Thanks,
Daniel "Shags" Yarusso

By Car
Take the Long Island Expressway (LIE, I-495) eastbound exit 62 (Stony Brook/Nicholes Road Exit). Continue north on Nichols Road (Route 97) north for approximately 9 miles. Make a left at the 3rd entrance, the "North Entrance", of the university. Veer right at fork and continue past the baseball fields to the train station parking lot on right. Fields are located adjacent to the baseball fields and across from the train station.

By Train
Take the Long Island Railroad's Port Jefferson line from Penn Station in Manhattan to Stony Brook. Trains to and from Penn generally require transfers at Jamaica or Huntington. Hicksville is also a transfer point on some lines. Go to www.LIRR.org to view the train schedules. When at the Stony Brook Station head left (east). Fields are located adjacent to the baseball fields and across from the train station.
