Dear reader,
Sat Nam. Since my last post, Siri Kartar Kaur and I have been hard at work - she illustrating, and myself researching and writing this much anticipated work. If you visit my Facebook page, the photo album "Yogi Bhajan Biography - Artwork by Siri Kartar Kaur" contains quite a few snapshots of the images as they have evolved. As things stand, we have a gorgeous cover piece and Siri Kartar Kaur is just immersed in making an inspired rendition of little Harbhajan Singh meditating of the roof of his house, as Siri Singh Sahib ji related in the story I titled "Sky." If you happen to live near Los Angeles, Siri Kartar Kaur will be exhibiting some of her collection, including some of her work for this project from April 1 to June 1 in the Langar Hall next to Guru Ram Das Ashram.
For my part, I just received some wonderful stories from our artist brother, Sewa Singh of Seattle, valuable contributions to this amazing narrative. A couple of weeks ago, I was at Miri Piri Academy interviewing some of the dedicated staff there for their recollections of our dear Siri Singh Sahib ji. Prem Kaur, who lives there now, reminded me of the Master's exacting and impromptu demands of sewa. Point noted. And now is March Break in my teaching schedule, meaning I have more time to devote to this precious project.
My hope is to have this in your hands by September 13, the 50th anniversary of Siri Singh Sahib ji's arrival in the West. My vision is that Messenger from the Guru's House will be a free resource for anyone to access or share, but if you would like and are able to contribute to Siri Kartar Kaur's efforts, I am budgeting $10,800 for the the cover art plus five more paintings, one for each part of the book, and more illustrations throughout. You may make a contribution
here, if you wish. Every contributor will be acknowledged in the work. Every contribution is valued. As of today, we are one third of the way to that total.
Thank you for your support and interest in this story over the years. With Guru's grace, hopefully we will have a beautiful book for you soon.
In the Name of the Cosmos which prevails through everybody and the Holy Nam that holds the world,
Humbly yours,
Guru Fatha Singh Khalsa
