Sat Nam.  President Obama has said it.  Vice President Gore has said it too.  Anyone who understands how our political system works know this: Politicians will not change course unless there is a demand from the streets - from people like you and me - that they change course.  Otherwise they will just continue to serve vested interests.  Business as usual - but our weather is going weird and we can no longer afford "business as usual."

Sunday, September 21 is the date of the People's Climate March.  It is being held to show the world's political leaders that we, the people, demand they get serious about global emissions, alternative energies, and keeping fossil fuels where they can do the least harm - in the ground.  The People's Climate March will be followed by the UN Climate Summit in New York City two days later on Tuesday the 23rd.

"If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem..."

We need to come out in really big numbers to effect change, to bend the course of history.  It is not cheap, but I am flying from Toronto.  For me, not to go would be far more expensive.  And to miss this occasion would be a weight on my heart forever - so I'm not missing it.

If you just had a baby or you are sick in bed or you are getting married that weekend or you can't get a day off from work or your name is Muhammad (really I understand), you may wish to attend an event closer to you.
But if you can possibly do it, come to New York City and bring friends.  The need is to fill the streets of New York to show the world we are serious and we tired of hired politicians "standing in the doorway and blocking up the hall."  We need a big event.

I will be happy to go for you if you like, but will you go for your children and grandchildren (or your nieces and nephews)?  Please don't think twice.  Come to Central Park in New York - or go to a march near you.  This is history and we have got to make some good memories to go out on.

One more thing - and this is easy.  If you have not already done so, please sign the Avaaz petition demanding action from local, national, and international leaders.  Right now the petition is up to 1,490,953 signers.  This is serious and it is global. https://secure.avaaz.org/en/100_clean_final

Please circulate widely.  Oh, and what does this have to do with Yogi Bhajan, you ask?  He will be in New York in spirit.  What did you think?  He wouldn't miss it.

Love to all!  Peace to all!  Life to all!

In the Name of the Cosmos that prevails through everyBody, and the Holy Nam that holds the world,

Humbly yours,

Guru Fatha Singh Khalsa
