SEARCH FOR GOD (from the book Everyday wiser by Pastor Alejandro Bullon - reproduced with permission from the Inter-American Division Publishing Association) #reflections

In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. Psalms 10:4.

The psalmist declares that the human being denies the existence of God because of pride. The man does not investigate. His pride imprisons him. He thinks he knows everything. He considers himself superior to others in his way of seeing the universe and the work of creation. He has no humility to recognize his creature limitations. He prefers to be his own god, determine his values and set his moral concepts.

The result of this arrogant and daring attitude is corruption. It becomes perverse. Perversity is the maximization of evil. When you think you already know all human evil, the wicked one still surprises you. Why? Because the wicked knows no limits. It imposes its own rules. He decides to call good, evil and evil, good. Put the values from the bottom up.

Who determines what is moral or immoral? The society by majority vote? Government? Church? Each? All these institutions are very important, because they have as main component the human being, who today is and tomorrow is no more. Because of its temporality the creature seeks something concrete to cling to. At the bottom of his being, he longs for permanence and that permanence can only be found in God. That's where the unbeliever's drama arises. He denies the existence of God, because he unconsciously believes that God threatens his freedom and, at the same time, needs him in his desperate temporality.

The Bible is the only book of absolute values, therefore, it is the only place where we can find permanent moral values. Today's text states that pride does not allow the wicked to investigate. "The bad one ... does not seek God." He prefers to look within himself or, at best, to the created things. He does not seek God. Invest his / her time in investigating any other subject, but there is no time for God.

How much of your daily program do you dedicate to God? Only He is able to fill the void of any heart. Only God is able to bring order to any life and bring hope where there is only hopelessness. Therefore, today, before starting your activities, remember that "The bad man, because of the arrogance of his face, does not seek God; there is no God in any of his thoughts.”
