MESSAGEix and ixmp 2.0.0 released 🎉

Hi everyone,

We are pleased to announce the release of ixmp 2.0.0 and message_ix 2.0.0:

These versions bring increased stability through expanded test coverage; streamlined configuration and command-line interfaces; and extensive improvement to our tutorials and documentation for easier learning.

The documentation updates include a “What's New” page for each package that gives migration tips and a full list of changes from previous versions:

• What's New in message_ix v2.0.0
  

We have bumped the major version from 0.x (ixmp) and 1.x (message_ix) to reflect that Python 2 is no longer supported. This is because the Python project itself has stopped (as of 2020-01-01) issuing bug fixes for Python 2.7; the scientific computing community has followed suit. MESSAGEix users must upgrade to Python 3.

Then, install or update via your favourite package manager:

pip install ixmp message_ix
