Plant-wise/Unit-wise Analysis ?

Dear Researchers,

Previously, I used MESSAGEix to carry out a broad analysis of the entire country's energy system. Currently, I want to study a particular sector, say the cement sector, in greater detail like how particular sectors respond to different scenarios. Thus, I will be adding data for each cement plant across the country to the MESSAGEix model. 

I would like to ask, is it feasible or methodologically correct to create new technology for each plant? If Yes, what precautions I must follow in doing so? Last time, I used cement plant as a single technology, and based on the scenario certain capacities were added and investment decisions taken by the model showcasing corresponding activity. I am not sure about the plant-wise or unit-wise capabilities of MESSAGEix.

Please enlighten me on the subject matter.
