to Message in a Bottle
Some time back I was in a discussion with people about the old
romantic notion of sending a message in a bottle by rolling up a note
and stuffing it into a bottle and throwing it into the ocean.
It seem neat to think that some person in a far away place will find
it and open it and read what you had to say.
But the realist in me spoke up and said that in all likelyhood it
would land on the same beach or one nearby, if it didn't sink and just
become litter, or a whale/shark ate it.
So I got to wondering how the same thing could be done, only better.
Eventually this idea came to me.
Instead of throwing it into the water, cast it out into the sea of
humanity. Tell people roughly where it's headed and people just pass
it on. When it gets where it's going people open it and share what is
in the bottle.
This lead me to thinking about what could be sent. In the case of the
first four bottles they are arts and crafts that I myself created, in
differant areas. Not all visual or tactile.
I may create a few more bottles as time goes on (I still have to
finish the first four).
I won't tell you what's in the bottles until they are opened, and then
only if the person who opened it doesn't share it all with us on the
boards. I won't even say where they are going other then to say they
are traveling to the closest thing to the four corners of the world as
I could find a way to do symbolically.
So mark the page and visit regularly, as more people join, to
speculate on the message, the art, the destination ect.
