Hi,
Has anyone had any issues initiating Mesquite (via Mesquite Starter)? I've updated Java and moved the Mesquite folder out; however, when I try to open Mesquite, nothing comes up. I have tried to open it on two MACs (personal and work), and it didn't on either. Also, I checked to make sure that i could open it through the security preferences.

Can you please advise?

Thanks!
Lenny

Hi Lenny,
Here's the troubleshooting checklist:
--- What version of Mesquite?
-- What is your macOS version?
-- If you go to Terminal (/Applications/Utilities) and type java -version, what does it say?
-- Mesquite_Starter is in Mesquite_Folder?
-- If you move Mesquite_Starter-S.command from RunningOptions into Mesquite_Folder, and double click it, what happens? Could you copy here what shows up in the terminal window?

Thanks,
Wayne

Hi,
I met similar problem recently, the opening will take around 1 hour after click the mesquite starter and I can see the Java(TM) Platform SE binary process running in the background during this time.
My mesquite is V4.03 under Win 11. Java version is "java version "21.0.10" 2026-01-20 LTS Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 21.0.10+8-LTS-217) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 21.0.10+8-LTS-217, mixed mode, sharing)".
I've tried reinstalling the software and Java, but this issue persists.
Could anyone please advise?

Thanks!

Thanks for your report, Yutai Shi.

Did it start eventually, after an hour or so, or did it not work at all?

Did you try to use the .bat file starter? See instructions in Running Options folder. First, move Mesquite_Starter.bat out of Running Options and into Mesquite_Folder. Then try to run it. Does it start then?

Best wishes,

Wayne
