Hello MESJ of SLC:

Please consider attending the Coalition of Religious Council's (CORC) Annual Meeting on May 7.  MESJ of SLC is closely affiliated with CORC as we share a common dedication to eradicating poverty among our many other focus issues.  We work with CORC throughout the legislative session each year to try and get bills passed that help those in need, expand healthcare, etc.

Also - mark you calendar for the next Progressive FHE on May 12.  It will be focused on wise environmental stewardship.

Thanks,
Crystal Y-O

CORC Issues for the coming year

At the CORC Annual Meeting (details below) we will be voting on issues for the coming year. Out of a list of submitted possible issues, the group will select 3 issues on which to work and other issues to support. Please send us issues that you think CORC should work on in the coming year.

CORC exclusively works on issues of social and economic justice that disproportionately harm low-income Utahns. When making issue suggestions to be placed on the ballot, please remember that we are a multi-faith group and will work on issues that all faiths feel comfortable with.

Please send your suggestions to Linda - li...@crossroads-u-c.org or Adam - ad...@crossroads-u-c.org even if you will be unable to attend Annual Meeting.

CORC Annual Meeting

We have mentioned several times that CORC's Annual Meeting will be on Wednesday, May 7th at St. Marks Cathedral (231 East 100 South, SLC) with registration beginning at 5pm. This year's Annual meeting will include Issue updates, voting on issues for the upcoming year, nominating and approving the CORC steering committee, and an activity that will allow CORC members to know more about what happens during the legislative session.

The legislative simulation is especially exciting as some attendees will have the opportunity to be legislators, others to be advocates, and everyone learning more about how the process unfolds from the inside.

As always, dinner will be served and everyone is encouraged to come. Please RSVP by calling or emailing Adam or Linda (email links above) - 364.7765 or 1(888)747-8482. .

A downloadable pdf of the event's flyer can be found HERE

The Coalition of Religious Communities is a statewide coalition consisting of persons of faith who want to positively impact the state's policies that affect low-income Utahns.
