It is very important that this immigrant bill, and the others on the slate this year, don't get passed. If you can attend this hearing today, please do!

Many of you have expressed concern about the immigration bills being
presented this legislative session. The most comprehensive bill, SB31
(Hickman) will be heard in committee this afternoon. This bill has numerous
anti-immigrant provisions, everything from revoking in-state tuition to
making it a misdemeanor to "harbor or shelter" an illegal alien.
Those wishing to attend should arrive VERY early as the room is small and
seating limited. The hearing will start around 2 p.m. in W020 (West building
basement) and this bill is first on the agenda.
Those who cannot be there in person can still hear the proceedings over the
internet. Here is how you can listen in:
-Go to the legislature's home page
le.utah.gov.
-Scroll down on the page to Senate Government Operations Committee.
-When the audio feed is turned on in the committee room around 2 p.m. an
icon will blink after the committee name.
-Click on the icon to listen in.
- If you have problems getting sound there is a Real Player download
available on the legislature home page.
Pass the word so as many people as possible listen to what our elected
officials are saying about this issue, both pro and con. It is important for
everyone to know what goes on up on the Hill!
