If you have a Backup Manager device configured and need to re-install the backup software but wish to keep the old configuration settings such as the device name, installation key, security code/encryption key and the previously stored backup data, this can be done on Windows, Linux or macOS devices by:
When installing the Backup Manager on a new device, the current history will transfer over as long as the old credentials are used (as found on the Settings tab for the original device in the Management Console).
In the case where you have an old (inactive) backup device which has not been deleted from the Management Console, it is possible to install Backup Manager on a device using these details to recover existing data.
YUM is the easiest way to keep programs up-to-date on RedHat-compatible distributions. YUM downloads and installs the latest version of a program. You should configure the YUM repository to manage installations of and [upgrades] to Server Backup Manager.

YUM is used to keep programs up-to-date on RedHat-compatible Linux distributions. we are going to configure the YUM repository to manage installations of and [upgrades] to Server Backup Manager. To do this, we create a YUM .repo file with the R1Soft repository information and save it in the yum.repos.d directory. Use this command below to open the new file with nano.
You need to have registered as an R1Soft customer to access the Server Backup Manager downloads. Go to this link to log in to the R1Soft customer portal. Navigate to the downloads page and go to the "Backup Manager" product group. Click on the Linux 64-bit (x86_64/AMD64) link for 64-bit binary hardware/OS and download the R1Soft-ServerBackup-Manager-SE-linux64.zip file.
Use the following command to move the downloaded zip file to that directory. Linux filenames are case-sensitive so we have to be sure to type the name correctly (in our case, "ServerBackup-Enterprise-linux32.zip").
The archive you have extracted contains two folders: one with .deb packages (in our case, "enterprise-manager-deb") and one with .rpm packages ("enterprise-manager-rpm"). If you are installing on RedHat and CentOS, select the .rpm package. Each folder contains a set of Server Backup components: serverbackup-setup, serverbackup-manager, and serverbackup-enterprise. Navigate to the folder with the packages i.e. deb-linux32 and run the following command.
You can now access the Server Backup Manager Web interface using a web browser. Amlib Backup Manager is a program that allows you to back up your Amlib databases either manually or on an automatic basis. By having Amlib Backup Manger running on your system, you can manage how often your Amlib databases are backed up automatically and how long the backups log files are kept before being purged by the system.
This program simplifies the process of backing up your databases, in case your live databases become corrupt for any reason. If you are not currently performing regular backups of Amlib it is highly recommended that you use the Amlib Backup Manager to ensure that you do not lose any data, should your databases become compromised for any reason.
Amlib Backup Manager is designed for use with SQL Express and replaces all previous versions of Amlib backup options including the original backup manager and SQL scripts run via Windows scheduled tasks. You do not need to set up or use this back-up plan if you are running the full version of a SQLServer with Management Studio, as it already has back up capabilities.
I have also been using the drive to store backups from a laptop running Windows XP Pro SP3. I did not install any WD software there. I am using the Windows backup program to do backups for the laptop. When the WD drive was plugged into the laptop for the first time, there was no menu displayed to install any WD software, so I figured that my having formatted the HD drive previously removed that as an autorun feature. The laptop just detects the WD drive as another USB storage device.
The new EVE install have same locations, so, copy your backup data contents in the new EVE-NG. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT overwrite whole directories in the new EVE, Just copy in the new EVE folders CONTENTS of your backup folders.
Can people share their personal experiences in terms of reliability, ease of setup/use, feature availability (scheduled jobs being one of them)? Other aspects could be speed of restore/recovery, quality of support, etc.
Ease of installation and configuration, yes, Veeam requires SQL express, but the wizards work, and you can always have Tech. Support help if you run into a glitch. Even the free version will do Hyper-V backups, you do need to manually run them or setup a scheduled task to run a script, the paid version is kinda pricey for just one machine, about $1600 for the first year and to continue the awesome support and updates is about $300/yr.
The way Veeam works when restoring is intuitive, a file explorer type view of what is on the backup and the ability to copy individual files and folders and other objects, like Exchange mailboxes or SQL databases granularly is great.
And indeed the critical thing that stopped me from choosing Altaro was that all of the explorers in Veeam are native components. Altaro at that time in 2017 had to use 3rd party add-ons to restore Exchange etc.
So Veeam is leading the way so far. Thanks to everyone who already replied. Will be setting up my backup this coming weekend. Still a couple of days to see if anything changes, but looks like I might be going with Veeam. Although Unitrends looks interesting too and seem to also be a bit more lightweight.
I think the only thing I would need in case I went with Veeam is the guide on how to have scheduled backups. If I understand correctly the feature is not available in Community Edition but can be scripted with PowerShell?

All Debian based systems use APT as a package management tool. The lists ofrepositories are defined in /etc/apt/sources.list and the .list files foundin the /etc/apt/sources.d/ directory. Updates can be installed directlywith the apt command-line tool, or via the GUI.
APT sources.list files list one package repository per line, with the mostpreferred source listed first. Empty lines are ignored and a # characteranywhere on a line marks the remainder of that line as a comment. Theinformation available from the configured sources is acquired by aptupdate.

To never miss important security fixes, the superuser (root@pam user) isnotified via email about new packages as soon as they are available. Thechange-log and details of each package can be viewed in the GUI (if available).
You can disable this repository by commenting out the above lineusing a # (at the start of the line). This prevents error messages if you donot have a subscription key. Please configure the pbs-no-subscriptionrepository in that case.
As the name suggests, you do not need a subscription key to accessthis repository. It can be used for testing and non-productionuse. It is not recommended to use it on production servers, because thesepackages are not always heavily tested and validated.
Some setups have restricted access to the internet, sometimes only through acentral proxy. You can setup a HTTP proxy through the Proxmox Backup Server'sweb-interface in the Configuration -> Authentication tab.
