Donquixote Doflamingo,[4] nicknamed "Heavenly Yaksha",[9] is the captain of the Donquixote Pirates.[14] Prior to his imprisonment, he was a member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea with a frozen bounty of 340,000,000,[15] as well as the most influential underworld broker under the codename "Joker".[8][2] He is also a former World Noble, descended from the Donquixote Family.[6]
He is the first son of the late Donquixote Homing[16] and the older brother of the late Rosinante,[17] both of whom he killed out of feeling betrayed by them.[18][17] Doflamingo became the King of Dressrosa after taking the throne from Riku Doldo III eight years before the start of the series.[19] He ruled the country tyrannically until he was stripped of his positions as a Warlord of the Sea and king after he was defeated by Monkey D. Luffy near the end of the Dressrosa Arc. After Doflamingo was arrested by Admiral Fujitora along with most of his crew,[20] he was locked up at Impel Down and placed in Level 6.[21] Vegapunk later cloned Doflamingo as one of the Seraphim to replace the Warlords.[22]
He is a major antagonist in the Marineford Arc where he took part in the Summit War of Marineford and sided with the Marines, along with most of the other Warlords of the Sea, and the main antagonist of the Dressrosa Arc and the Dressrosa Saga as a whole, being the impetus for the entirety of the saga's events.[2]
Doflamingo is a very tall (standing at 10' and as a comparison taller than Kuzan as shown in their confrontation),[5] very lean and muscular man with tan skin and blonde hair incredibly short resembles a pixie cut He generally dresses in flamboyant clothes. In reference to his animal theme, the flamingo, his clothes are brightly colored, with his large light pink feather coat most distinctly of all. Doflamingo sports a pair of curved, thin white sunglasses, which appear to serve as his eyesight with red lenses. He also walks with an odd, bow-legged waddle (though he does not always walk like this), which is also a reference to himal theme.[1]
He has a white shirt with red stripes (early open revealing his chest), a green belt, and orange pants with white stripes. He also wears pointed black dress shoes. Originally in the anime, Doflamingo had a red shirt with black stripes, a purple belt, and black pants with red stripes. However, when he reappeared during the events of Sabaody, his color scheme was switched to its manga depiction, with the exception of his glasses. In the manga, he has orange-tinted glasses, while in the anime (pre-timeskip) he has purple-tinted ones. He is also seen often, if not always, smiling within his long tongue hanging out,[23][24]
Two years after the war, Doflamingo's outfit is somewhat less elaborate, wearing a plain, open shirt that has small, dark Jolly Rogers as cufflinks, a orange belt with green ropes, and pink striped pants with white patterns. However, he still wears his trademark sunglasses which have changed from purple to red lenses and dress shoes. Post-Timeskip, he drapes his feathered coat on his shoulders instead of leaving his arms in the sleeves, similar to many high-ranking Marines and pirates alike. He also now wears a golden hoop earring on each ear.[4] After his defeat by Luffy, Doflamingo wore a horizontal striped prisoner outfit.
Even as a child, Doflamingo spent most of the time wearing sunglasses, though he had not yet acquired his trademark ones. Before leaving Mary Geoise, Doflamingo wore the typical garb of the Celestial Dragons, and his hair fashioned the same style. After the family left Mary Geoise, his hair was changed to a simply neat and tidy in a bowl cut and his wardrobe consisted of simple fine clothes: a low-neck button-up shirt with black striped and a frilled cravat.[25] However, due to the harsh life on the run from angry citizens, Doflamingo's appearance started to turn more disheveled;[16] in a depiction, his shirt and hair grew messier and unkempt, going barefoot, sitting on a tattered chair near palm trees, smoking a cigarette.[26]
At age 10, after gaining loyalty from his four closest childhood friends, he changed out of his tattered noble clothes for a simpler, yet cleaner, black shirt, and white shorts.[27] From this point onward, Doflamingo began to look more threatening. He eventually took on the appearance of a mob boss, wearing a black coat like a cloak over a pale lavender shirt with an unbuttoned collar, bole-colored shorts. His hair took on a spiky appearance, and he replaced his ordinary sunglasses with the trademark pair with spiral-shaped red lenses that he has now.[28]
At age 17, his hair was longer than it is currently, he had two earrings on his left ear, and he sported a pair of goggles that he wore on his forehead. In addition, he also wore sunglasses similar to the ones he wears today, but they had a different temple design and his signature feathered mantle.[29]
At age 25, when Law first came to him requesting membership in the crew, Doflamingo seemed to have done away with the goggles, but otherwise seemed the same in appearance;[30] he wore a black dress shirt with a red tie and white pants with a bright red design, with his signature mantle over it,[31] At age 28, during his trip to Minion Island he briefly wore a blood-red double-breasted suit with yellow-gold buttons, with matching blood-red dress pants and shoes, a pair of (dark green in the anime, black in the manga) gloves and changed his sunglasses to the ones he wears currently.[32]
By the time he was 31, he had his hair cut down to the current length. Currently, after his defeat at Dressrosa, Doflamingo now has Seastone shackles on his arms, legs, and entire chest, while chained to the floor of Tsuru's ship, he is also wearing a standard Impel Down prison uniform, with a few white bandages on his forehead as well. He was also given a new set of sunglasses.[33]
In the Pokmon anime, while the main characters will generally wear a single outfit for several seasons, they have changed outfits from time to time. At the start of a new series, protagonists continuing on will change their main outfit entirely. This is a list of the different clothing and outfits worn by the main characters.
All of Ash's main outfits are highlighted by his hat. They often strongly feature the colors red and blue, along with black, white, green, and golden yellow. These are primary and bold colors, accenting Ash's primary status in the series.
Ash's first outfit is, unlike those of many of his friends, a unique outfit design in its own right, though it is also directly inspired by Red's. This fact is also echoed by the outfits of Brock and Misty, which were designed purely for the anime instead of using the outfits seen in the games themselves, and also the artwork for the games.
The upper part of the outfit is a medium blue jacket with gold trim and white collar and sleeves, worn open over a dark cyan or teal t-shirt. Ash kept his Kanto, Orange League, and Johto Badges pinned to the inside of the jacket, which from time to time, would be taken off by him, most notably when his Pokmon need warmth. His lower outfit consists of jeans with light blue cuffs, black and white sneakers with red dots on both sides, and a brown belt, which he used to hang his Pok Balls.
Ash also wears green finger-less gloves with light green borders, and of course, his hat. The only part of the outfit with a known story behind it is the hat, which he won from a contest from the Pokmon League. Ash would turn his hat backwards when he was concentrating heavily, such as when he would face a Trainer or capture a Pokmon. This was very much the case early in his journey in Kanto, though by the time his journey in Johto ended, he hardly ever turned his cap.
He has a green backpack with a yellow square label and slings with black adjusters on them. The backpack has two pockets and two open compartments on each side. The main, bigger pocket is delimited by a black zip fastener, while the external pocket has an orange stripe on it.
Ash's second outfit was the first alternate main outfit to be seen on any character, and by default, the least expected. Brock and Misty's second outfits would not debut until several episodes after Ash's did. This outfit was given to Ash as a gift by his mother in Gotta Catch Ya Later!.
Along with a new hat, Ash wore a hoodie instead of a jacket, black gloves instead of green, and new jeans and sneakers. In Hoenn Alone! and Get the Show on the Road!, Ash can be seen wearing a T-shirt similar to the original series, but with an orange horizontal stripe. However, he keeps the hoodie closed, possibly because he no longer keeps Badges pinned to the inside. The backpack is green, with one pocket and a red Pok Ball design on it.
All of his new clothes, however, bear a notable resemblance to his old clothes, probably to maintain his style and avoid confusion which would be caused by a completely new appearance. This becomes a common theme among all new outfits: the new ones take on the style on the former outfits.
The symbol on his hat, backpack, and hoodie pocket reflect the Pok Ball symbols seen frequently in the Generation III games, particularly in the designs of the main characters' clothes. Ash's Pokmon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire outfit is similar to the one Red wears in Generation III, most notably, his sleeves.
Ash's third outfit takes a step back to his first outfit by wearing a jacket instead of a hoodie, and with colors closer to the original. It also has a white undershirt instead of black for a change, as well as a new hat, new jeans, and new sneakers. The gloves are the same as those from his second outfit. The backpack is similar to the one he wore in AG, being green with two pockets, and having a white Pok Ball design with a red "button". It should be noted that this new outfit possessed some similarities to that of Lucas, the male player character from Pokmon Diamond and Pearl. The primary differences are the hat designs, sneakers, backpack color, and the fact that Ash wears open fingered gloves, but no scarf. It also bears traits of Red's outfit, mainly the white collar, though there is the fact he is now wearing a closed jacket, another similarity with Red's.
