Hey guys--
HOw's everyone's summer doing? I'm hoping everything is going well. I just wanted to update you about Peru and also the weekend that we have planned. So, I realized that my flight actually comes in on July 31st at 6AM in the morning. So, as for San Diego that weekend, I'm thinking that probably won't happen. BUT boat trip will still be on for the Sunday, August 1st.
So, for those that don't know what a boat trip means, we basically camp out for the day on the shores of Silverwood Lake while enjoying the boat through an inflatable raft, jet ski, and a BBQ. It's really fun. You get to chill out in the sun, swim in the lake, play in the water, whatevers you want.
The plan will be to meet up at my house at 8AM. I know it's early, but it'll be FUN! Hahahahaha. And then we'll carpool over to Silverwood Lake. you are free to meet up with us at Silverwood Lake if it's closer to you.

Things to Bring:
Towel
Sunblock
Sunglasses
Snacks (such as a bag of chips to share or some fruit)
sandals
Swimsuit
Water (very important)
So, let me know via e-mail or whatever if you can make it. And also if you plan on bringing anyone so that we can figure out food for everyone. And just to let you guys know what is going on for me in Peru, I've included a little story for you guys. It involves a little adventure I had while riding some horses. Enjoy, and I hope to hear from y'all soon.

So yesterday, I went horseback riding with some friends of mine through the Andes mountains (more like the foothills but you know what i mean). And from the very beginning it was like a perfect storm disaster. Amazing.
So there's 8 of us and we have to take 2 separate taxis to the horse farm thing. The first taxi (which i'm a part of) gets there just fine. The second taxi arrives about an hour later, and there's a strange woman that has somehow joined them. (Somehow they fit 5 passengers into the 4-passenger taxi). Hahahhaaaha.
Anyways, they start leading us down these shady pathway, and I'm thinking. Crap, we're gonna die/get robbed/raped. But we get on to the horses. And everything is fine. The horses are nice. Except mine was making asthmatic breaths cuz I way too much.
Anyways, we get to these ruins and they tell us to get off our horses. So we get off and explore these ruins. A man offers to take us to a cave. His exact words are, "I show you cave. It's magnificent. Follow me." As he points into the growing darkness as the sun starts setting behind the Andean mountains. With a quick, "No thanks" we start hiking on our own. All of us stop to take some pictures, except for one guy. He keeps going down this pathway. And then I spot the same strange man with his cave offer crouch behind a rock slightly above the path that my friend is taking. And I'm like. WTF?! These bitches are all gonna rob us. The horses are just a front!
So, we get him to come back. And we go back to the horses. And lo and behold, all of the horses have run away, except for 2. The guide had stayed there to tell us that he was gonna have to round up the horses. He takes one remaining horse, leaving a group of 8 of us with one lonely horse, and the slowly encroaching darkness all around us.
Anyways, he tells us to "Espera" or "wait" and we're getting anxious. And a guide (a new one, one we had never seen before) decides to come back witha few more horses. So all but two of us get a horse now, and we ride back towards the farm. EXCEPT the guide tells us to go down this creepy little side path to the middle of effin' no where with forests on either side (prime spot for a hostile takeover, robbing). So the horses continue forward, and I'm walking. So I take all my money from my wallet and throw it under my hat, so that in the event that I get robbed, I can throw my wallet at them and still have my money.
Anyways, it all turns out to be ok. Except that he tells us we have to get off the horses and walk about a kilometer down this empty, black path with trees on either side to get back to the city. But we made it. Sans robbery. And took a cab back home. The cost of this adventure--$7

I wish I could make it to this boat trip, but I'm flying in on the 6th! Sooo that just means we all have to get together again soon after because I definitely want to see you all!!

Paul, your story had me in suspense the entire time I was reading it! But I'm glad it ended well and you guys didn't get robbed.
And I'm down for the boat trip on August 1st too. It sounds like a blast!

Hi guys!
so my backs been messed up for a week or so now and i found out that i
have a Rhomboid muscle strain (thats the muscle that connects the
shoulder blade with my spinal cord i believe). anyways, I don't think
boating and vigorous activity would be approved by the doctor right
about now haha! especially cuz i want my back better before my flight.
I was wondering if you guys would want to do dinner after the boat trip?
maybe up by Pauls house like we did last time?! I know jmah can't make
all day at the boat either cuz she has to pick gamble up from the
airport but maybe she can do dinner on sunday? (JMAH??) haha and i know
boggy doesn't like that sun so maybe u can make dinner (BOGGY?)
oootays... i'd really like to see you guys before leaving!! so if u can't
then i'll come laze around haha

That sucks. I´m sorry. How about we shoot for dinner then? I havent really heard back from everyone. The only yes I got then was from Jessica Ly and Meli. (Are you guys still coming? Confirm with me via email?)
I can reschedule for another date if it´ll work better for everyone. I know Matty comes back on the 6th. But then Avi and Jmah leave soon too. Gahhhhhh, RA planning fail. Hahahahahaha. Why are we so busy with our lives?

BOAT TRIP!!!
I'm down in San Diego and badly in need of some Vitamin D as it's
foggy like crazy and cold up in SF during the summer. So, I'd
definitely be in for a boat trip if we're all doing it.
I've got an early morning Monday flight back up to school to get back
to research, so I may not make it out to dinner but let me know what
the plans are. Hope to see you guys!

Alright guys!
Sorry about the delay in messaging. But I just got back from Peru. My flight was delayed by 7 hours! :(
But I'm really excited for tomorrow. So here's a recap of what to expect
--Meet at my house at 8AM, and then we will carpool over to Silverwood Lake.
--What to bring: towels, sunblock, extra change of clothes, water bottle, snacks, swimsuit
--What to expect: just a nice day lounging out by the water of the lake, jet ski, try wakeboarding (which Wes is an expert at) and inner tubing
To Meli, Jason and Alli: I will stop by the dock at noon and wait there for about a half hour. Our boat has a blue canopy on it (but then again, so do most boats). Try and call, but reception often sucks on the lake. But try, txt as well. If I don't see you from 12-12:30, I will return every half hour to try and pick you guys up! Excited!
To Wes: Are you gonna just meet us at Silverwood?
To Sean, Katie, and Avi: Can't wait to see you guys bright and early tomorrow morning.
