i often hear my office computer churning; now i know why.

in the last week, 143 people have updated their running logs, which is
way more than i imagined use the thing regularly. and, also in the
last week, 26 people have created new accounts. there must be
someplace they find out about this thing. but where?

if you're a log user, where did you hear about it?

all together, over 6,700 accounts have been created.

(dirty secret: the thing is completely unmaintained; i haven't done
anything to it for years. the only time it comes to my attention is
when someone forgets or wants to change their password---because i
never got around to coding a full-featured password reminder/changing
deal.)

I actually just e-mailed you to ask for some password help.

I am one of the newbies, I first stumbled onto your site searching for
a running calculator, you are the top search result on google for
"running calculator"...one day I was bored and began looking at the
other features. I found your workout log to be simple but complete. I
had tried using other sites, but the login was always too comples or
the site too commercial. The ability to customize things is awesome!
It is perfect for my New Years Resolution of running at least one mile
a day, as well as logging in my other workouts. I am a numbers freak
and like to play around with them constantly and track progression.

I might be responsible for a few of the new accounts as I have
recommended the site to some family and friends. You are doing a great
service, thank you!

I heard about it through my coach at the Univiersty of Maryland,
Baltimore County (UMBC) It used to be where we were suposed to go and
fill out our running log, but our coach never really forced us to do it
and many kids didnt do it.

Its really suprising to hear that you dont do any maintnece or anything
on it. I would just expect for you to do something. I"m just
curious... why did you create this? I'm a information systems major
and i know that i'll be choosing a running log for one of my future
projects. I'm hoping to create one that i can save to the internet
without actually loging in to anything. Was this simliar to why you
created yours?

Thanks for the message. Yeah, I put it together because I wanted a way
to plan my training and to go over it afterwards, and I was already
thinking that everything should be on the internet so it wasn't stuck
on a single computer in a single program. That way I could log a run
from home or work or whatever really easily (and yes, I wanted it to be
as pain-free as possible--few pages, few clicks). Maintenance-wise, it
just doesn't need anything to keep running. The code and user data sit
with the rest of my documents including my work web pages, and so it
gets backed up with them. You might be amused to learn that the
database consists of a single ascii file for each user's log.

I found the site through a google search, and am glad i did.

I'm having trouble getting the run data from the log to plot (although
the average and total chart underneath works nicely) and find that
everything just goes in one line if i try to export to spreadsheet. Are
these common issues and how can i fix them?

I mentioned I used it on the Runners World forums in response to a
question as to who used what log....

I linked to the site from goelguapo.com a local running club. I was
about to create my own training log spreadsheet, out of disappointment
with the other ones available online. Now I don't have to. I am
training for a triathlon and the ability to track all the different
workouts makes this the best one I've found. All the other logs I
found on the web were either only for running, or just didn't work
that well.
Thanks!!
