Dear Friend,
I enjoy watching “60 Minutes” every week, but I’m irritated when I hear a correspondent stumble over our language. Even so, I shouldn't be irritated. “60 Minutes” deserves credit for helping people with their English.
Huh? Yes, we should be grateful to “60” for providing a variety of mistakes. I correct some of them and dispense them as tips. I offer them to my readers, many of whom want to improve their writing. I recently selected another fistful of “60”’s mistakes from my collection and used them to construct a challenge for readers. And I’ve written a new article, “Are You Ready for the Big Time, Say ‘60 Minutes’?" You can read it at http://www.mervinblock.com/?q=node/95 .
