Dear Friend,

Anchors and reporters sometimes say they’ve confirmed a story. Whenever I hear network folks use that verb, I wonder why. Not to mention when and where—and how.

Finally, my curiosity got the better of me, and I began looking into confirmed. After some poking around, I wrote an article, “Anchors’, Reporters’ Use of Confirmed Questionable.” You can read the article at  http://www.mervinblock.com/?q=node/117
