Hello fellow mersorcium members,
My name is Carla Pereira-García and I finished my thesis on microbiology this last summer. My thesis title ‘Ecology and processes of mercury detoxifying marine bacteria’ aimed to improve the current understanding of the ecology and physiology of marine bacteria involved in the Hg cycle and evaluate their potential role in biological transformations (methylation, demethylation, and reduction) from both an environmental and a cellular perspective.
During the course of my thesis, I trained to use metagenomic and metatranscriptomic data, cultures and molecular approaches as well as chemical analytical approaches as isotopic dilution to study the methylation, demethylation and reduction of Hg.
Two chapters from my thesis are already published (see attached) and the other two will be hopefully by the end of the year.
I am currently searching for a postdoc (CV attached) so please if you have, or know of, an opening, I will greatly appreciate it if you could resend the information through this line of emails.
Thank you so much for your attention,
Carla.
