Hello Mersorcium-mates,
We are excited to announce another discussion session! This one will be entitled “Transcription of hgcAB”. It will be held Thursday April 4th, 2024 at 2 PM UTC.

It will include a brief overview of the published literature on this topic from culture-based and environmental studies and some new data, followed by a discussion focused on bringing together these different studies to generate ideas about how hgcAB transcription is regulated, what this means for environmental MeHg formation, and what work needs to be done to push this field forward. For those of you that haven’t thought about this topic in a little while, next week we’ll send out a “reading list” of some of the literature that we’ll discuss.
If you have unpublished (or published) data and/or ongoing work in this area and would like to contribute a couple of slides or some discussion questions, please contact Ben Peterson at bdpet...@ucdavis.edu
. Additionally, if you notice any glaring gaps in our “reading list”, please pass along those papers as well.
We are looking forward to this discussion! This is an important topic, and the previous Mersorcium discussion sessions have generated some great ideas. We hope to see you all there!

PS : I have been trying to send a calendar invitation to be more convenient, but it didn't work as I wished (some got an invite from mersorcium or from alyssa....@aces.su.se and few of you didn't). I will do better next time :-) Alyssa
