Hello all

 

Your local CAMRA branch, Liverpool and Districts, has won a national award! This was the Members’ Initiative Award which was presented to us at the recent National CAMRA AGM/Members’ Weekend in Torquay – a very exciting surprise! It was awarded largely in recognition of our Bringing New People to Real Ale Campaign, a major part of which has been the women’s events that you have supported over the last 12-14 months.

 

We would like to bring people together again for another women’s event to celebrate at the pub that hosted two events last year, including our very first one - the Dispensary in Renshaw Street. Dave and Pauline, the licensees, are keen to have us back, and we know from your feedback that people enjoy the ‘cosiness’ of the setting, not to mention the excellent beer! There will be beer tastings and some ‘nibbles’ to soak them up, and generally an opportunity to chat together and with us, and talk about what events you might like to see or get involved with in the future.

 

THE DATE! – is Tuesday 22^nd May and we will be meeting at 7.30 in the raised area at the rear of the pub, as usual. As you probably know, the very maximum number this can hold is 40 people, so please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to come. We particularly appreciate those of you who have made a real effort to involve other people over the last year and introduce them to real ale, as this is the whole point really!  We definitely hope you will continue to do so, but it is not ‘compulsory’ on this occasion. However, please feel free to bring a friend if you wish – just let us have her name too. We plan also to invite a small number of ‘new’ women who we ourselves have met, or who have introduced themselves to us, at Beer Festivals or in pubs over the last couple of months and who have said they would like to come along to an event. We feel sure those of you who are ‘veterans’ will assist us in making them welcome!

 

Winning an award has its challenges! We do hope you will help us to make this year another successful one! Please let us know if you can attend by replying to this email by Friday 11^th May at the latest.
