See below - given the context it's particularly important to have women and women's organisations backing the statement as well as every other anti-fascist. Will you sign? Who else can you get?

In light of the protest that the racist and fascist English Defence League have called in Rochdale we are writing to ask if you will add your name to the list of signatories to the statement below.

Greater Manchester UAF statement
We condemn the cynical and dangerous attempt by racists and fascists in the English Defence League (EDL) and British National Party (BNP) to manipulate the horrific case of the sexual exploitation of young women in Rochdale in order to stir up Islamophobia and racial hatred in our community.
Sexual exploitation is an appalling crime, but it is not linked to ethnicity or religion. As the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre point out, "Child sexual exploitation is not confined to one community, age, demographic, social status or gender." In the Greater Manchester area, 95% of those on the sex offenders register are white.
The activity of the EDL and BNP has already led to an increase in racist attacks and Islamophobia. We want unity against sexual exploitation and unity against the racists that seek to divide us.
We support the anti-fascist protest in Rochdale on Saturday 9th June and call on others to join us in opposing the attempt by racists and fascists to hijack this issue in order to further their political agenda and to demonise and punish an entire community.
