Im attempting to transition from PowerShell 5.1 to PowerShell Core 7.0 on Windows. In PowerShell, I have a permanent alias file at C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\profile.ps1. However, when I launch the core terminal, these aliases aren't loaded. Any idea what I can do so that this file is also executed when starting core?

This user right determines which accounts can be used by processes to create a directory object by using the object manager. Directory objects include Active Directory objects, files and folders, printers, registry keys, processes, and threads. Users who have this capability can create permanent shared objects, including devices, semaphores, and mutexes. This user right is useful to kernel-mode components that extend the object namespace. Because components that are running in kernel-mode inherently have this user right assigned to them, it is not necessary to specifically assign it.

Do not assign the Create permanent shared objects user right to any users. Processes that require this user right should use the System account, which already includes this user right, instead of a separate user account.

So as you know I was all excited to buy the very first Microsoft Surface Pro. I bought the 128 GB model because I knew that despite the fact that I have all sorts of external hard drives I was even likely to ax out 128 GB pretty quick. Fortunately between Cloud-based storage (SkyDrive for my personal stuff, SkyDrive Pro for my business files) and the ability to add a micro-SD card I would be fine.

The SD Card has both a drive letter and the mount point on the C drive. If this is what you see then you are ready to proceed. Cancel out of this window and close the Disk Management console.

Notice that the Pictures (C:\SD Card) is at the top of the list, and has a check mark next to it. That means that when I start saving pictures (or decide to import them from another profile) they will go onto the SD card and not onto the internal drive.

Hi Golly. Great question. The Recycle Bin only protects Permanent Storage drives, not removable storage like USB keys and SD Cards. The solution is outlined in this article that I wrote in February, 2013: -an-sd-card-to-permanent-storage-in-windows-devices/

Found an alternative solution that works fine with Windows 10, including deleted files going to the recycle bin. A little more effort required but not much. -windows-8-particularly-on-tablets-with-a-permanently-inserted-micro-sd-card

Mitch, I bought a win8.1 hybrid device with only 16GB internal memory. My memory is almost full and know I want to do the win10 upgrade. When I tried to do it, win update gives an error message saying that its not possible to do it, cause low internal memory. I have a 64 GB microSD card for personal files.

After moving to Windows 10, I am desperate because I cant have Onedrive synced with my external SDCard.

So I tried this. It semt to work (I mounted SD card to c:\SDCard and then linked Onedrive to C:\SDCard\Onedrive).

Un fortunately, after that I get blocked when I try to sync fiolders that make up to above 30Gb, because my C Drive has only 30Gb left Although the SDCard has more, the process sems to take into accoun,t only what is available on C.

Any idea?

I believe if you put a large USB thumb drive in the machine it will allow to upgrade moving temporary files to the USB during install. Sorry if is about a year ago I did it, and I forget the exact steps.

Also look for previous systems files hidden in Windows.old folder using the disk cleanup tools. If you Google upgrade W10 on 32 GB you will find several examples of guides. I used same process with Dell 32gb tablet and 64gb SD.

I mounted a microsd card to the c: drive on my surface pro 3 and everything has been working fine. One issue is that the computer keeps telling me I am low on storage. When I ran disktective, it shows that the contents of the microsd card are being included in the hard drive storage calculations and causing it to appear nearly full. Can you help me sort out this issue?

I have a notebook which has small C: drive. When I install some software, it will tell me it needs bigger free hard drive space temporarily. Although I have cleaned and free some space, it is still not enough. I I use a MicroSD Card and map it the way you suggested, as C:\SD_card, will it show as a bigger C drive (I mean C + MicroSD = more free space on C drive)? Thanks

But beware, if the card is removed even for a while in the future, it might cause registry errors or other messes, including but not limited to: unable to launch, association errors, unable to uninstall or worse, even unable to reinstall. You might have to full wipe/reset the pc in order for things to be normal again, and of course reinstall everything. You have been warned.

My request is for pinned tabs to be permanent, meaning that they should persist across all windows. If I open a new window, Brave does not keep my pinned tabs in that new window. If I have multiple windows open and I close my main window first, then when I reopen Brave my pinned tabs are gone.

Floorp works the same way Brave does: if you have pinned tabs in one window, then open another window, the second one has no pinned tabs. If you close the first window before the second, the tabs will not be there when you re-open the browser.

It also has a weird way of working with pinned tabs between workspaces. When you pin a tab and then switch to another workspace, the tab is pinned there too. If you unpin it, it will be unpinned in the workspace in which you pinned it.

I schedule many videoconferences with people outside my organization (some of them repeated) and the way I do it now is to create a Teams meeting link from my Outlook invitation and then send this to the meeting invitees. I would prefer to create a permanent link that I can always give to people, for example, in an email message, without having to generate a new Teams meeting each time in Outlook.

I considered simply reusing the same link from a previous meeting for subsequent meetings, but it seems that each Teams meeting creates its own space in Teams. So, it seems that people I meet with later would be able to see the names of those whom I met with earlier using the same link, as well as any conversations I might have had with them. So, I don't think this is what I want--I want a link that gives meeting attendees access to only the present, live meeting, with no access to past exchanges using the same link. This is important to respect the privacy of each meeting.
