Dear All,
I would like to place on record the circumstances that have led to my decision to resign from the committee.
As many of us are aware, the open space outside the boundary of our complex had gradually turned into an unofficial parking area and also a place where groups regularly gathered to play cards (gambling). This situation was creating inconvenience and concern for residents, particularly as it was happening right in front of our community approach road.
Considering the matter, the committee collectively decided to submit a General Diary (GD) at Patuli Police Station and Garia Traffic Guard on 15th December 2025 requesting them to look into the issue.
Unfortunately, even after waiting for nearly a month, there was no visit from the police and no action was taken to remove the unattended cars or to stop the gathering of people playing cards. In view of this lack of response, I suggested to the Executive Committee that we may consider sending a formal legal communication requesting the authorities to take necessary action. The Executive Committee agreed with this proposal.
Following this decision, I contacted one of my acquaintance lawyers and the letter was prepared and sent accordingly. Soon thereafter, the police visited our complex and met one of our committee members. Subsequently, the unattended vehicles parked in front of our complex were removed and the gathering of people playing cards also stopped.
Additionally, since the communication was also addressed to the adjacent Metro Authority, the RPF took action and removed the hawkers occupying their space. Although this was not specifically part of our original complaint, it appears to have been a consequence of the same communication.
However, these developments also led to certain reactions from some residents of the opposite complex, Valmiki Abasan, as many of them were previously using the area for parking and gatherings. A few residents gathered in front of our complex expressing their displeasure. I understand the situation and was handled calmly and patiently by other members of the Executive Committee in my absence.
In the meantime, as police patrolling in the area became more regular, the police noticed one of our resident’s cars parked outside and a case was filed. This incident is indeed unfortunate and not intended.
It is important to mention that the steps taken in this matter were not individual decisions but were based on discussions and collective agreement within the Executive Committee, with the intention of addressing a long-standing concern affecting the residents of our complex.
However, it appears that the subsequent consequences following the legal communication are now being attributed primarily to me. Under such circumstances, and in the interest of maintaining harmony within the committee and the community, I believe it is appropriate for me to step aside from my role.
Accordingly, I tendered my resignation.
I remain hopeful that the committee will continue to work together constructively for the welfare, safety, and peaceful living of all residents in our community.
Regards,
Masud Ahamed
