What is posAccuracy in transmitted AIS data

Hello,

what does this posAccuracy means ? Does this gives information regarding the locations transmitted by vessels either it is correct or incorrect ? I can see that it is either True or False but I am confused and fail to understand what is True and False means in this case ? I tried to look in IMO but I fail to find any information regarding this attributes.

Thank you for your question.  As I understand it, if the accuracy is high(true), then then position accuracy is less than 10 meters.  If the accuracy is low(false), then the accuracy is more than 10 meters.  Low being the default here.

To put this into perspective, according to this webpage the typical smartphone have accuracy of about 5 meters.
