We urge you to use this group to:
1. Express your concerns about your immediate neighborhood;
2. Connect with your neighbors and have fun;
3. Become involved in making your little corner of the world a better place to live, and;
4. To watch out for each other in the process.
Use this forum as an opportunity to discuss what “you” feel needs to be addressed regarding your community, to report problems and, to learn what is going on in your neighborhood. What you will discover is others have the same concerns, and working together, we can make it better for everyone.
Join this list to get updates about the neighborhood such as
up-to-the-minute neighbors' reports about crime they have experienced, activity
reports from the North District of IMPD, crime statistics, and events you may
need or want to know about that are occurring in the area.
The Meridian Kessler Neighborhood Association is a longstanding group devoted
to improving the quality of life in the neighborhood and in Indianapolis. This
means working with residents, businesses and churches on issues of local crime
and policing, abandoned houses, development, youth issues.
MKNA divides itself into zones, and Zone 8 covers 54th Street to Kessler Blvd between Central Ave and the Monon Trail. This list is for people living in that area
-- and any others nearby -- to keep up on the news of the area and to stay in
touch with neighbors.
Remember, "When people get to know their neighbors, the neighborhood is
strengthened. When you band with others, it is a way to give a voice to your
portion of the community; you have a way to make sure the City hears your
concerns; you have a way to disseminate information; you have a way to effect
changes locally; you have a way to maintain the peace and tranquility and be
safe; it is USEFUL to be an involved citizen; you need to be organized, because
crime is organized."
